Ever wonder how it would be like to lift 100% your weight? How about how it would feel that you are part of a team of millions of people? I know I definitely wanted to be able to have the strength of 100 men. I imagined that I could go one on one with the green Hulk himself. I would get pulverized, but it would be hard for him to find me, because I would be the size of an ant.
As a child growing up with comic books, I enjoyed how superheroes would save the day from the villains and at the same time inspire me to do great things. My favorite heroes were never the major ones like Captain America or Iron Man, but the next level after them, such as Ant-Man.
Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas (Las Vegas, The Game) is a brilliant scientist who invented the Ant-Man suit. He believed that, with this suit, he is able to make a difference in the war. But when he lost his wife, he changed and decided to hide the technology from the world. In doing so, it created friction with his daughter Hope, played by Evangeline Lilly (Lost and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Fire Armies)
Hank’s company Pym Industries, under the control of his protegee Darren Cross, played by Cory Stoll (The Bourne Legacy) discovered a way to make a similar Ant-Man suit and called it the Yellow Jacket. Darren Cross wants to make the company rich by getting military contracts, but Hank did not agree with that.
Scott Lang played by Paul Rudd (Clueless, This is 40) a convicted criminal, was released. When he got out, he wanted to change his life for his daughter. When that didn’t work, he attempted to do a job and failed. So Hank rescues him and gave him a second chance at redemption, by asking him and train him to be the new Ant-Man, of course with the help of his lovely daughter Hope.
Marvel Studios has done it again. With the success of movies such as Iron Man, Captain America and Guardians of the Galaxy, they are a force to be reckoned with. Ant-Man is an action packed movie with both comedy, adventure and a little bit of love.
Are you a comic book aficionado (like myself) or even just a person who loves great movies? Then you need to get a copy of the Ant-Man Blu-Ray/3D combo pack. With the direction of Peyton Reed (The Break Up and Down with Love) and the talents of Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Cory Stoll, Bobby Cannavale (Spy, Chef) and Michael Pena (The Martian and Cesar Chavez) you will have yourself a (jump out of your seat) good time with your family, or even just by yourself.
When you finish watching Ant-Man, it is not over yet. With the Special Features, you can experience how it feels to shrink down like Ant-Man in the “Let’s Go to the Macroverse” featurette. See all the extra footage that was removed from the movie in the Deleted & Extended Scenes, laugh out loud from the Gag Reel and much more.
Ant-Man is such a funny and thrilling movie. Since as a child I have always loved watching superhero films and TV shows. Ant-Man was and is a joy to watch. My daughter and I watched it twice in the theater and we loved it. My daughter would leave the theater and starts to pretend that she was the size of an ant and lift my foot as if she was very strong. It made me smile and laugh. Ant-Man, just like all the Marvel movies, was action packed and enjoyable, and you will not see small insects the same way again.
