Christmas coming just around the corner and 2014 is coming to an end. Have you thought of what to get those special people in your life? Well, I always have a hard time thinking of what to get people for this special holiday. You want something that Santa Claus might not give them for Christmas. If the person you’re getting is an anime geek (like me), here are a few suggestions.
Attack on Titan, by Funimation
Ever liked the story of David and Goliath? Well, then this is the show for you. The story follows a young boy named Eren, whose family was killed by a being called a Titan. With revenge on his mind, he joins the special army that fights these monsters. It has action, drama, unique characters and a lot of kicking butt. This story is by Yasuko Kobayashi, who wrote Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and Claymore. This is a must have for any anime aficionado.
Ranma ½, by Viz Video
I would love to be a student of the school anything martial. This is one of the anime that started me in my addiction. It immediately brings me back to my childhood days of going to the video store just to rent Ranma 1/2. Ranma ½, follows a boy named Ranma with a very specific curse. When he is splashed with cold water, he becomes a girl. He goes through many adventures meeting new people, from past loves to new rivals. What’s not to love about this series? You have action, drama, comedy, martial arts, a pig and panda!
Cowboy Bebop, by Funimation
Ever dream of Space, Bounty, Sexy, and a dog at the same time? Well, then this is the DVD you want. Cowboy Bebop, is a wonderful show full of action, drama and comedy. Cowboy Bebop follows a group of bounty hunters traveling in space catching wanted people for a living. With Spike (a former Hitman), Jet (ex cop), Faye (con artist) and Edward (the genius) and Ein (intelligent genetically engineered dog), whats not to like?
Bleach, by Funimation
I wonder how it would feel to be dead, or even if there is an afterlife? Well, I hope it is just like this. When you die, you go to the spirit realm called the Soul Society. It is a place where (like in your real life) you live and work and feel like you’re in heaven. Bleach is just that kind of world. It follows a boy named Ichigo, who for some reason has great powers as a soul reaper.
Log Horizon, by Section 23
Ever wonder how it would feel to live in a virtual world? How about a fantasy world where you are a warrior or wizard? Well, I have since I was a kid. I always wanted to be a wizard like Merlin, or a warrior like Kenshin. This is a must have for your collection. Log Horizon is a story about virtual gamers that live their lives in this magical world. They battle monsters during quests for the rewards, run their own store or provide services (such as blacksmith or item store) and even bounty hunt. But to top it all, these gamers can’t seem to leave the virtual world. This series is funny and very exciting. If you liked Sword Art Online, then you will also love this show.
