"The 21st Century is when everything changes…and Torchwood is ready."
The impressive second season of Torchwood is now available for you to own on Blu-ray!
With the successful relaunch of the Doctor Who franchise, Executive Producers Russell T Davies and Julie Garner decided to expand the Who-Universe to a new series, Torchwood (an anagram for Doctor Who). The series is focused on a British Government team of Paranormal Investigators. They are the first line of defense in case of alien invasion. The team is led by Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), a man who simply cannot die. Team members Gwen (Eve Myles), Owen (Burn Gorman), Toshiko (Naoko Mori) and Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd) also return for the second season.
Highlights for Season 2:
-"Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" – The series starts off with a bang and introduces Captain John Hart (played by Buffy and Smallville's James Marsters) as a long lost friend and lover of Captain Jack. This episodes also sets up the overall story arc for the season.
-"Adam"- The team suddenly has a new member, Adam. But who is Adam? Why doesn't anyone actually know who he is? This episode is a great thrill ride.
-"Reset" and "Dead Man Walking"- Great episodes featuring Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones. This starts a very big story arc for Owen.
-"Something Borrowed" – Gwen is finally about to get married only to find that she is pregnant with an alien baby…oh and the baby is due at any moment. Oh and the alien that impregnated her…yeah she wants the baby back…
-"Fragments" – In this episode we get a lot of character information as we see flashbacks of Tosh, Ianto, Gwen, and even Jack before they joined Torchwood. By far one of my favorite episodes.
-"Exit Wounds" – Following events of the previous episode, we learn that Captain John has returned and has information on who he is working for. I don't want to give anything away about this episode, because really, so many really good things happen. We get more history on Captain Jack, plus new developments for many of the Torchwood team.
Bonus Features:
– Deleted Scenes
– Outtakes – Some great moments are included in the outtakes, if you are a fan make sure you check these out.
– Feature "The Life and Deaths of Captain Jack"
– BBC Series: "Torchwood Declassified"
-1080p Video
-English 5.1 Surround Sound
Overall:
If you are a fan of Doctor Who, Stargate, or the X-Files, you will find something special in this show. The writing and quality has drastically improved from the first season and the overall character arcs are extremely compelling.
