WonderCon 2010: Chuck VS the WonderCon

There are so many great things to say about Chuck that it is hard to find the best place to start. This series has been one of the most consistent and well written shows out there since day one. Chuck is halfway through its third season and has yet to release a single bad episode.

This year at WonderCon, the minds behind Chuck gave fans of the show something truly special, an early screening of the upcoming episode "Chuck versus The Other Guy", which would have served as the season finale had the order for 6 additional episodes not come through.

Without giving away any major spoilers I can easily say that it lives up to all expectations and helps to setup the next story for Chuck and his friends. "The Ring" story arc comes to a stunning conclusion and there are many amazing moments along the way. I can tell you right now, this is an episode that you cannot miss. Don't just setup your DVR to record it. Don't read spoilers. Just make sure you are at home at 8pm to see the episode air. You will not regret it. They pulled out all the stops (again) to produce one of the best hours of TV this year.

After the screening of the newest episode, several memebers of Team Bartowski made appearances at the Chuck panel. Zack Levi (Chuck), Adam Baldwin (Col. John Casey), Josh Gomez (Morgan), and co-creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak took the stage and really entertained the crowd. The guys wouldn't say much about the upcoming episodes, but they did mention that Scott Bakula would be returning as Chuck's dad, Christopher Lloyd would be appearing as a therapist, and that some of the dangling plots such as Casey's former life would be addressed. (Side note: I had the chance to speak with Chris Fedak prior to the panel and he also implied that we might not have seen the last of Chuck's arch-enemy…Bryce Larkin!) We also learned more than we ever wanted to know about several cast members' morning bathroom routine…but that is a conversation for another time.

One of the most important questions that was asked was about what fans could do to help ensure that the series would reach a fourth season. Zach explained that really the best thing that people can do is to watch the show live. As great as DVRs and Hulu can be, it is all about advertising and Nielsen Ratings (he then came up with the new slogan: "Save Chuck – Hack Nielsen").

If you aren't watching this show then you are truly missing out. I have introduced this series to many people and each and every one of them is now hooked. It is very rare to see the level of thought, care, and consideration that goes into TV programing, but it is visible in each and every episode of Chuck that has been produced.

Stay tuned to ComicsOnline for our upcoming Video Interviews with Zack Levi, Adam Baldwin, Josh Gomez, and co-creator Chris Fedak from WonderCon 2010!
