Blu-ray Review: Men In Black I & II

by Kroze Kresky, Media Editor Back in the mid-nineties, comic book adaptations-to-movies were still in their infancy. Hollywood was looking towards comics closely for inspiration, as several movies were vaguely adapted from comics around this time. Such titles as Mystery…

Blu-ray Review: Meatballs (1979)

by Chris Learned Kane, Reviewer. One of the most perplexing and annoying (but nonetheless true) ironies of adulthood:  walking down a candy aisle and realizing at once two things:  you could totally afford to buy ALL of it; and that…

Blu-ray Review: One for the Money

by Karl Madsen, Editor I have to be honest, when I first heard that there was another Katherine Heigl project coming out I did what many others did – I had a few laughs at the project’s expense. Then I…

Blu-ray/DVD Review: War Horse

by Karissa Barrows, Editor

Albert Narracott (Irvine) and Joey

When you think “horse movie”, what do you think of?  Black BeautySeabiscuitSpirit: Stallion of the Cimarron?  Typically, I usually think some movie that’s going to make me cry because of shameless horse-killing, the overplayed horse-separated-from-loved-owner-and-later-reunited storyline proven to elicit tears, or some cowboy movie.  War Horse, Steven Spielberg’s newest film, uses those first two, mixed with a little Seabiscuit-style “miracle horse” aspect, and a little bit of storytelling I thought slightly reminiscent of Tarantino – and makes for a huge success.

Blu-ray Review: The Muppets – Wocka Wocka Value Pack

by Matt Sernaker, Managing Editor

The Muppets have returned to our lives with the new movie called…The Muppets, now available to own in an amazing Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Combo Pack!
Having grown up watching the original Muppet Movie countless times (I was born a little late for The Muppet Show), I was excited, yet hesitant when this newest endeavor was announced. The last few Muppet theatrical installments were…Less than great (I’m looking at you Muppets In Space), and didn’t really meet expectations. Upon hearing that the 2011 film was being written by Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) and Nicholas Stoller (Undeclared), with original music by Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Concords) I was slightly reassured. But how will the new film compare to my childhood memories of Kermit and the gang?

Blu-ray Review: The Three Musketeers

by Mike Favila, Reviewer

As a relatively big fan of Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element), I was eager to check out her and husband Paul W.S. Anderson’s (Resident Evil Series) take on the classic book by Alexandre Dumas. Would The Three Musketeers blast away the Disney version starring Charlie Sheen (pre winning era)? I popped in my Blu-ray to find out.

Blu-ray Review: The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence)

by Karl P. Madsen, Horror Editor

Fan – 1. enthusiastic admirer – an enthusiastic admirer of a celebrity or public performer. 2. Same as fanatic (noun)

The sequel to Human Centipede (The First Sequence), Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) is a unique format. Instead of building the second movie off the events, and timeline, of the first film, this sequel uses the First Sequence as the catalyst for the events of the Full Sequence. That’s why this film is 100% medically inaccurate instead of the first Human Centipede’s 100% medically accurate status.

Blu-ray Review: The Fades – Season One (and Giveaway Contest!!)

Who would have guessed that the one doing the vast majority of ass-kicking would be the one wearing the purple pants?
(That’s right, Paul.  Lookin’ at you, buddy.)

by Karissa Barrows, Editor

I have been raised in the horror genre.  In fact, the first movie I can ever remember watching is “The Blob”.  Yep, that one with the big pink thing that consumes people.  Thanks, Dad.  B movies for the win!  Anyway, I’ve loved horror ever since.  That’s usually Karl’s territory here at ComicsOnline, but I got the Blu-ray copy by accident.  So, not only am I going to tell you just a little bit about this amazing series, The Fades, on BBCThree and, as of recent, BBC America, but I’m going to give you the chance to win a DVD of series 1 of your very own.
