Manga Review: Hayate the Combat Butler – Volume 13
Hayate the Combat Butler Volume 13, the shōnen manga, contines its comedic storyline as it constantly finds ways to make continual fun of just about everything. While this volume does break the fourth wall on a couple of occasions, it is mostly related to the anime. Volume 13 continues with a bunch of 1-2 chapter stories, sometimes building on past continuity of previous chapters. The end of the volume begins a slightly longer café arc. While most of the chapters are essentially gag chapters, for the most part they do seem to have a bit more character development than the previous volume.

Manga Review: The Record of a Fallen Vampire – Volume 7
The Record of a Fallen Vampire is a shōnen supernatural fantasy action mystery revolving around the former ruler of the Kingdom of the Night, Akabara Strauss, a vampire who can withstand sunlight, for which that very ability helped cause its demise. When his queen, Adelheid, unleashed her power a thousand years ago she was sealed away and her true location hidden among many false seals. For this past millennium Strauss has searched for the seal to set her free, waging battle between dhampires, half-human/half-vampire offspring, and humans who believe her return will herald the end of the world.
Manga Review: Switch – Volume 11
Switch is a shōnen action police drama focusing mostly on two rookie investigators at the Narcotic Control Department in Japan. Kai Eto is a rookie investigator, who can “switch” personalities whenever pain or emotion overwhelm him. His normal personality is kind and gentle, whereas his alter ego has no compulsions and seems to revel in violence. His partner, Hal Kurabayashi, also a rookie, is a genius investigator who uses his ability, and charm, to help solve cases. They, and their colleagues, investigate drug crimes in Japan fighting against both small-time criminals and vast drug cartels run by various yakuza.
Manga Review: Yakitate!! Japan – Volume 20
When one hears the word shōnen, one of the first things that comes to mind is action. While other stuff like comedy, romance, and adventure come to mind as well, with very few exceptions, such as School Rumble, action is a given. In Yakitate!! Japan there really is no action, at least in the traditional sense. While there is competition, it is not about racing, sports or fighting; it is about food preperation.
