TV Review: Torchwood: Miracle Day – “A New World” (Season Premiere)

by Matt Sernaker, Senior Editor

Miracles really do come true as Torchwood returns to television tonight with the premiere of Torchwood: Miracle Day. This newest incarnation of the Torchwood series is brought to us thanks to a new partnership between BBC and Starz.

Taking place after the incredible Children of Earth story, Torchwood’s existence has been wiped away without a trace. Gwen Cooper and her family have gone into hiding with the hopes of living a normal life. Captain Jack Harkness was last seen leaving the planet and heading out into space looking for a new direction and purpose after the incident with the 456.

Movie Review: Horrible Bosses

by Gary Sernaker, Reporter

Horrible Bosses is not a horrible comedy, it’s just a horrible example of how comedies are hobbled together today.  There are some yuks, but not enough to sustain the laugh-out-loud quotient that should have been an easy mark to obtain, considering this movie’s all-star cast.

Matt Nix, the mastermind behind the series, noticed that both critics and viewers were becoming a bit bored with the old “Michael takes on a case to help someone from bad people, while slowly piecing together who the main villain of the season is, with a new clue popping up at the end of every episode” dog-and-pony-show. Thus, Season Four set out to change the approach to the show in several ways.
