DVD Review: Todd & The Book of Pure Evil – The Complete First Season
High School is Hell
by Kevin Gaussoin, Editor-in-Chief
Fifteen years ago, Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered on television and the success of its seven seasons (or twelve if you include Angel) brought supernatural action drama into being, leading inevitably to today’s supernatural shows ranging from The Vampire Diaries, through Supernatural and Being Human, and into the occasionally-clothed and always sexy True Blood. But Buffy had a few things going for it that the others did not. Notably here are its clever and ubiquitous self-referential humor and perhaps most importantly here is that Buffy possessed something that most other supernatural shows never had. It was in the beginning set in one of the most frightening places on earth: High School.

TV Review: The Walking Dead – “Bloodletting” Episode 202 Advance Look
EPISODE 202: “Bloodletting”
Coming to the aid of another, Rick discovers a possible safe haven. Shane must go on a dangerous mission to get badly needed medical supplies.
by Kevin Gaussoin, Editor-in-Chief
Last weekend The Walking Dead shambled back into our living rooms and our hearts (and braaains). The 90-minute premiere led our group of survivors down the road to ruin, where they hit a dead end. As you no doubt know already, one of their number didn’t return after a zombie chase, and everyone worked together to search. Of course this led to the explosive cliff-hanger ending where a beloved character gets quite a dear surprise.
Beware minor spoilers!

Movie Review: 30 Minutes or Less
Facebook? I don’t check that shit, I’m off the grid.
by Kevin Gaussoin, Editor-in-Chief
Amid scathing controversy claiming the film exploits a real world tragedy, 30 Minutes or Less attempts to make a comedy out of a plot that might otherwise be best expected in a torture-porn like that found in the Saw movie franchise. Does it succeed?

Blu-ray Review: True Blood The Complete Third Season
by Kevin Gaussoin, Editor-in-Chief
True Blood is erotic monster fantasy fiction for adults. Twilight may be pretty, but the heroine is weak, the plot dull and motivations hard to believe. With True Blood, we get supernatural hotties at their naked best in a show that’s not only gratuitous and well shot, but also well written and acted and always entertaining.
