Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket

By now we all know what happens when we travel to foreign countries for a vacation. Beaches, exotic drinks with fruit and little umbrellas, local customs, disappearances, human trafficking, torture, sacrifices…and so much more to make you never want to leave. So how mundane and boring would a vacation in Los Angles with your movie mogul friend be?

DVD Review: The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu

Spoon!!

What do you do when members of you cult find half of a relic, that when joined with the other half, releases an indestructible force trapped beneath the ocean? And this force is named Cthulhu? You find the descendant of H. P. Lovecraft, of course.

That’s what happens in The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu. Comic artist Jeff (Kyle Davis – Friday the 13th) is the last descendant of H. P. Lovecraft, and a Lovecraftian cult has found a relic and charged Jeff with the safekeeping of the object.

DVD Review: Psych9

Your husband drives a taxi at night. You take a job sorting records at a closed hospital at night. There might be a couple of ghosts running around the building, and you are losing chunks of time. DVD Review: Dark Skies: The Declassified Complete Series

History as we know it is a lie

Conspiracy and science fiction have been popular television themes since the invention of the cathode ray tube, and when the two mesh it’s often magic. In the middle of The Fugitive, V, X-Files, Lost, and Fringe are 1996’s Dark Skies.

Blu-ray Review: Open Water & Open Water 2: Adrift Double Feature

We’ve had movies with people stranded in the woods, in the desert, in caves, and deserted buildings. They’ve been stranded in cars, in planes, busses, and on boats. We’ve even stranded them on spaceships and planets. But in the new Blu-ray double feature, from Lions Gate, Open Water and Open Water 2: Adrift the characters are stranded in the ocean.

Blu-Ray Review: The Blair Witch Project

When you think of the great hoaxes in history some just automatically come to mind. Orson Wells broadcast of War of the Worlds, The death of Paul McCartney, and now The Blair Witch Project. From the SciFi Channel’s documentary about the legend of the Blair Witch, and the mystery behind the finding of the tape after the crew disappeared, to the sequestering of the actors until after the movies premiere, added to the mystique of this movie’s release.

DVD Review: The Human Centipede

There’s a movie that has been talked about for the last few months as being one of the most disturbing to be released in a while. A truly bizarre movie that tells of the reverse engineering of the Siamese twins process using their gastric systems. That’s right, The Human Centipede is being released on to an unsuspecting public. Be afraid.

Karl’s Shocktober Movie List

It’s that time of year again. The time when all the ghosties, and goblins, and things that go bump in the night come out. The month of October, which leads to Halloween? And with it are the scares that go with this time of year. So here’s my recommended watching for the month. Let me know what you think. I know that there are a lot of movies that deserve to be on the list but didn’t make the cut this year, so let me know what I missed. Share the scare.

DVD Review: Less Than Perfect Season One

Have you ever wondered about what a star has done, or where they went? What happened to Andy Dick after News Radio? Was Sherri Shepherd interesting before The View?  Who does Zachary Levi play on TV now? Eric Roberts did what before The Expendables and Sharktopus (would I lie about something like that?)? Well, just watch Less Than Perfect to see the answers.

CC2010: Interview with Fringe Star Jasika Nicole (Astrid Farnsworth)

Fringe’s Jasika Nicole, who plays Astrid Farnsworth, was the first of our roundtable guest. This lovely young lady answered all our questions, except the ones that would have given spoilers. She was also surprised that we were fans and knew so much about the show.

ComicsOnline: Is there anything exciting for your character next season?

Comic Con 2010 Interview: Fringe Producers Jeff Pinkner And J. H. Wyman

Fringe Executive Producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman are interviewed in a round table session. They would not divulge spoilers, but are very excited about the new season, and that we are knowledgeable fans ourselves.

Question: What can you tell us about the next season?

Both: Absolutely nothing.

Question: [Laughs; incoherent] Nothing?

Jeff Pinkner: Well, we don’t want to ruin it for you! It’s like Christmas. One opens the presents on Christmas day.

J.H. Wyman: There’s lots of love and a reason they’re all wrapped nice in colored paper and bows. Hopefully there are twenty-two of them
