PS3 Game Review: X-Men: Destiny

Choose your powers. Choose your allies. Choose your destiny.

by Caleb Paullus, Video Game Editor

Choose your limited powers. Choose you allies which don’t really seem to make a difference. Sort of choose your destiny.

That’s really what the tagline should be for the game, but if they did that, it probably wouldn’t sell better than it is. Let me start off by saying I’m a BIG fan of Marvel, but I’m not a fanboy that will fall on my knees, worship and adore anything that has the Marvel name slapped on the package. X-Men: Destiny was a very frustrating game to play.

Firstly, it is not a true RPG: your tech tree for powers is not very advanced. Playing through the game, I expected that leveling up would make a big difference when coming across the same type of bad guys. It really didn’t.

Video Game Review: Magic the Gathering Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012

by Caleb Paullus, Video Game Editor

During Comic Con, I bumped into the reps from Wizards of the Coast. I was lucky enough to score a promo code to play Magic the Gathering Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012. Now if you’ve played the more recent version (which is free to Playstation Network Plus members) you’ll remember how fun it was. It did have some things that needed to be fixed though…specifically the length of the game, it was too short.

Now here am, after playing nothing but this game for three straight weeks. I still can’t put down the controller! Maybe I’m just ultra nerdy because I’m hooked, but I think it’s pretty freaking fun (or how I like to say PFF!) So you ask me “You’re playing Magic the Gathering?” I respond with “PFF, Yeah!” Anywho lets dig in.

Movie Review: Transformers: Dark of the Moon

by Caleb Paullus, Media Editor

Just when I thought I couldn’t get enough explosions and Sexy Autobot Action, Michael Bay graces me with the next installment, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. In this blasterpiece (see what I did there?), we are introduced to a plethora of new Autobots and Decepticons, a sexy new girlfriend, explosions, and the epic voice of Leonard Nimoy. I guarantee* you will enjoy this movie a million times more than the second Transformers film.

Minor Spoilers Ahead: Beware!

iPad Game Review: Thor Son of Asgard

by Caleb Paullus, Media Editor, Games

You’ve seen the movie right? If you haven’t read our review on it and then get your butt into a theater and watch it already!

Okay, you’re back, you’ve seen the movie. Now, buy the game on your iPad or iPhone! Thor: Son of Asgard, now available in the App Store, is a fun game where players assume the role of Thor and take an epic journey to defend Odin’s Kingdom.

Let me clarify that the game has NOTHING to do with the movie. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but don’t buy the gaming thinking it’s based off the movie.

Movie Review: Thor

FUCKING THOR! By Caleb Paullus

by Caleb Paullus Media Editor

The God of Hammer-Stroking. Guardian of Asgard.

Let me start off by saying that its difficult to watch a movie for an hour and fourteen minutes when your blood is no longer rushing to your brain. Lucky for you, you don’t need a brain to enjoy this fantastic expansion of the Marvel Universe, Thor.

Don’t see this movie if you are going to try and compare it to just the recent Marvel films released (Iron Man, Iron Man II, The Incredible Hulk) you will be disappointed. However if you look at it comparing it to every Marvel film released in the last twenty years, then you will very satifyied.

Blu-ray Review: Benny & Joon

Thanks for the couch. Um… Mike made me sleep under the sink.

By Caleb Paullus

Not being a Johnny Depp fan – oh who am I kidding, Depp is a dreamboat, even when he is portraying an eccentric cinemaphile in this romantic comedy film. Benny & Joon, originally released in 1993, is now digitally remastered in high resolution blu-ray glory! You can see every beautiful pore on Johnny Depp’s gorgeous face. I know what you are thinking, “Caleb has a boy-crush on Johnny Depp”. No that’s not the case, I’m actually the one that got a restraining order placed on him before he got one on me.
