If you are just joining us, a new age of heroes has begun with the launch of Power Rangers Prime. Over the last few issues, readers have been taken on a journey through an alternate timeline where Earth is just another planet in the Eltarian Empire. It is quickly established that Power Rangers have been outlawed, and the primary protectors of this new world are none other than the VR Troopers! While searching for her missing family, Lauren Shiba (the Power Rangers Samurai Red Ranger) inadvertently starts a chain of events that will change the world. With expectations subverted, fans got to see a completely different interpretation of Rita Repulsa as she made her grant arrival on Earth. With a bit of magic and some morphinomenal energy, a new generation of Power Rangers will rise up to fight back against the forces of evil. Now, let’s get back to action…
Everything has been building to this. A brand new team of Rangers must face off against a more experienced team of VR Troopers in a battle that I’ve been hoping to see since I was a kid. The ensuing battle between powered heroes dominates a majority of this latest chapter, and the double-page action sequence had me grinning from ear to ear. There’s a reason why this book keeps selling out and going back to print, and I’m beyond thrilled to experience the upcoming VR Troopers spin-off that was just announced. This iteration of Power Rangers has incredible potential, and I hope that we get to explore the journey of these teenagers with attitude for many years to come.
