Notice Jeb’s Hat changes when he was cancelled!

Jeb’s Hat

The “X” on Jeb’s hat is an older version of the character’s headwear. A complete accident, but one I am going to use. I included the changed hat (but upgraded it a “J” with a cancel circle for the social medias.). Maybe Jeb’s hat will be more expressive moving forward.

Jeb Critter was one of the original critters from my later middle school years. He was the janitor, and mainly slept in the corners of my class notes, usually with a neglected broom. His wife Gabby was created just to stare disapprovingly at his lazy ways. The influences of my maternal grandparents, Andy Capp and some dry humor around an Allendale County barber shop (“I knew a man who was so hen-pecked he molted twice a year”) led to Jeb and Gabby’s friendly bickering.

New Version

Here’s the updated panel posted on social media.

Original Hat Joke

I liked the ambiguous meaning at first, as well as the “way old” joke, but after a friend named John came up with a motto for a sticker, I used Jeb, and changed the “X” to a “J” to stand for Jeb and John. The date on this comic strip was December 2021, but may have only been posted on social media.

This Critter merchandise and others are for sale on Redbubble. Look for the JoeIconic store. All proceeds go to buying more stickers, temporary tattoos, and make coloring pages for the children who come through our local crisis charity! Critter fans send Critter Sightings from Amsterdam to Charleston to London to Alaska. I also occasionally post Critter Sightings on social media on the weekends.

This “Director’s Cut” of the cartoons is exclusively on ComicsOnline.com! Come back to ComicsOnline for Critters, Comic Book Reviews, and Everything Geek Pop Culture!

Joe is a husband, #girldad, and Orphan of Apollo. He has drawn critters since riding the bus in 5th grade, and they have appeared on notes to loved ones, graffiti in a Latin classroom (sorry Rev. Dr Clark!), training slides for work, a newsletter in Alaska, and notes to his wife Tracy, who encouraged him to share them with the world. Contains pop culture references, stuff from the news, but mostly bad dad jokes.
