“THE BEST SUPERHERO SHOW ON TELEVISION” returns as Invincible suits up for his third season on Prime Video! After surviving his trip to outer space, a battle across the alternate dimensions, and a test from the Viltrumites, Mark has been living up to the name Invincible. What comes next will push him to the limits of his abilities…
Thanks to our friends at Prime Video, we’ve had an advance look at the first six episodes of the new season. Spoiler-free review ahead.

It’s hard not to be impressed by all that the creative team behind this series has been able to accomplish in these short seasons. The animation continues to be top-notch, the storytelling seamlessly captures the magic of the source material, and the vocal performances are rich and dynamic. Although this season remixes events from the comics (even more than in previous seasons), everything from a storytelling perspective just works. This new season sees Mark take on bigger challenges that will push the boundaries of what it means to be a superhero in this universe. Invincible’s acknowledgement that things aren’t always black and white is probably one of its strongest core characteristics, and the ability to explore heroes through the gray area allows for more grounded character-centric narratives.
The third season of Invincible stars Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, Seth Rogen, Walton Goggins, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Mantzoukas, Zazie Beetz, Grey DeLisle, Zachary Quinto, Chris Diamantopoulos, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Andrew Rannells, Kevin Michael Richardson, Ben Schwartz, Clancy Brown, Jay Pharoah, Mark Hamill, and Melise Jow. The executive producers for Invincible include Robert Kirkman, Seth Rogen, David Alpert, Catherine Winder, Simon Racioppa, Margaret M. Dean, and Evan Goldberg. Helen Leigh and Cory Walker serve as co-executive producers on the series. Just as in previous seasons, the talented cast continues to put their all into their performances. The MVP of these first episodes is Jason Mantzoukas, as Rex gets some big moments that really elevated the character from previous seasons. Although his character typically gets relegated to the comic-relief, this season added some amazing new layers and depth that will surely make his performance hit home for viewers. Ben Schwartz also managed to steal the spotlight more than once, and I love his take on Shapesmith. Walton Goggins gets some great moments as Cecil, especially in the opening episodes, and I don’t think they could have done a better job casting him in this role. His interpretation is absolutely perfect.

Overall
Invincible soars to new heights in Season 3, and the fact that we are getting all of the episodes in a row without a break will make this an even bigger win for viewers. Invincible feels like a return to must-see-tv and recaptures the joy of a series being an event that needs to be shared with others. Every time the series returns, it makes me want to go back and do another read-through of Invincible.
