Have you ever imagined a darker, grittier, and maybe even a little bit devilish take on Eight Billion Genies? Buckle up my friend, because your wish has come true! Image presents The Lucky Devils, a new series from Charles Soule and Ryane Browne (the creators of Eight Billion Genies) that is sure to scratch that itch!
Minor spoilers ahead.
Official Synopsis:
Good Omens meets CURSE WORDS in this new series from the duo behind smash-hit EIGHT BILLION GENIES! THE LUCKY DEVILS is a tale of two rebellious demons who decide to start a revolution in Hell—and the two ordinary, 20-something humans they’re going to manipulate to do it. A cheeky, satirical look at Good and Evil, THE LUCKY DEVILS explores Faustian bargains and temptation in a rip-roaring, hilarious new way.

Charles Soule and Ryan Browne have teamed up again to bring us one of the must-read titles of 2025!
The first issue of The Lucky Devils #1 does not waste any time introducing us to our two main protagonists, who are both relatable and inherently good people. This does not sit well with their Devils, who reveal themselves to their respective humans, with a tempting offer. From here, our two little mischief makers return to their home, and we quickly lean that they don’t like to play by the rules, even those of Hell. It seems like they have some much bigger plans for themselves moving forward.
Ryan Browne’s artwork continues to draw me in, making me feel like I am familiar with this dark and drab world. You can clearly see the feelings and emotions expressed by the characters, especially when we are meant to feel the influence of The Devils. I am looking forward to seeing how Browne portrays more of the “darker side” of the world, but given the design of The Devils I think that we are in for a treat.
All in all, this first issue has a lot to offer, and has hooked me! The character introductions and world-building were spot on, and I immediately felt familiar with the so far small cast of characters, and a basic understanding of The Devils’ motivations. There are so many questions left unanswered and avenues to explore that I can’t wait for the next issue.
