Advance Review: Hornsby & Halo #1 (SPOILER-FREE)
The year of Ghost Machine continues with the launch of their latest book: Hornsby & Halo #1! This new series falls under their “Family Odysseys” umbrella and focuses on the internal battle between good and evil. What happens when you take a child from Hell and put them with a caring family? If you took a child from Heaven and gave them to a less-than-ethical family, would they take on those characteristics? It’s “nature versus nurture” with an interesting twist. Spoiler-free review ahead.

The brothers are back in action as the adventures of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles continue! Unless you’ve been hiding in your shell, you probably know that Jason Aaron and a plethora of talented comic book creators have been on overdrive with the first three installments of the new ongoing TMNT series. Now that “Return to New York” has reached its fourth installment, it’s time for Donatello’s time in the spotlight. Grab your favorite pizza and get ready because Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #4 is now available at your local comic book store.

Movie Review: Gladiator II
Let me begin this review by saying that Gladiator II is a DIRECT sequel to the first movie. It includes many of the same characters, references the events of the previous movie directly, and shows the aftermath of General Maximus’ death attempting to restore democracy to Rome. Ridley Scott does a brilliant job spinning a romantic narrative of power, corruption, and the very real struggle of idealism in the face of nihilistic apathy and greed. The one thing I applaud this movie for above everything else (and there is much to applaud), is its dedication to that ideal. Gladiator II is “ABOUT” something, even when things get weird or require a healthy dose of suspension of disbelief. And in my eyes that means it can get away with a lot.
