The Boys at the Gym

Based on a True Story!

“The Church of Iron” is one of my favorite places! Even if I make more grunts and noises now that I am older. This comic was originally part of a series of jokes about the Gym Code. The Gym Code also includes not dropping weights, re-racking your weights, wiping down your sweat, and, most importantly, not being a creep. I am personally OK with photobombing someone videoing their gym routine for social media, but I respect other opinions on the matter.

The OG

It might just be me, but the four panels feels like a better pace for this joke. Even if it did have a little more exposition on the Gym Code. ComicsOnline posted the original pen and pencil color version of this comic on May 11, 2022.

Critter Coloring!

Critter Coloring by Juan!

I serve with Juan at my favorite local non-profit. He’s not only one of my heroes, but took the time to support me with this artwork. For background information, Juan is an asylum-seeking legal immigrant from Venezuela. If he had to return to his country, his life would be in danger for opposing the current dictator. He spends his days helping people in crisis in our local community, and making a positive difference with many lives. Juan is seen below, taking a moment’s rest in our thrift store after a hard day of service to others.

You, too, could join the #crittertribe! Follow on Instagram (@joe.iconic) or TikTok (@notesfortracy) for more critters! For Critter Stickers and Gear, go to Redbubble and look for the JoeIconic store. All proceeds go to buying more stickers, temporary tattoos, and other sharable promotional swag, and make coloring pages for the children who come through our local crisis charity! Also, fans send Critter Sightings from Amsterdam to Chicago or local heroes like Juan!  Critter Sightings are usually posted on social media on the weekends.

Joe is a husband, #girldad, and Orphan of Apollo. He has drawn critters since riding the bus in 5th grade, and they have appeared on notes to loved ones, graffiti in a Latin classroom (sorry Rev. Dr Clark!), training slides for work, a newsletter in Alaska, and notes to his wife Tracy, who encouraged him to share them with the world. Contains pop culture references, stuff from the news, but mostly bad dad jokes.
