Did you know Krampus had a catchphrase?

What’s in a catchphrase?

Krampus original mission was to punish bad behavior. He hit children with switches. It was different times. Most of my purpose for including Krampus is to highlight the different cultural norms for behavior modification. His “Dark Santa” routine makes him misfit, an outsider.

For the terminally misbehaved, Krampus put them in his sack and carried them away for stricter punishment. What did he do to them? The unknown that adds to the terror. It might be the worst thing your imagination could conjure.

But that’s all in the past, right? They are not in in real danger, are they? So what happens to the boys next? Will they finally learn a lesson?

Don’t bet on it!

The OG

ComicsOnline.com posted the original ink and pencil colored version of this comic on May 4, 2022. Lots of characters. More exposition that I like in both versions. I had a story to tell!

Fan Art!

Thank you for the Fan Art!

Ugga Dugga in different colors! My fan artists reimagine the critters in different colors. My doodles of critters were first either pencil or ink outlines only. It was a long time before I added color, and my daughter had creative differences with my vision. She always saw Spike and Norville as yellow, so that’s why they are different.

You, too, could join the #crittertribe! Follow on Instagram (@joe.iconic) or TikTok (@notesfortracy) for more critters! For Critter Stickers and Gear, go to Redbubble and look for the JoeIconic store. All proceeds go to buying more stickers, temporary tattoos, and other sharable promotional swag, and make coloring pages for the children who come through our local crisis charity, like the fan artist above! Fan Art is usually posted on social media on Tuesdays.

This “Director’s Cut” of the cartoons is exclusively on ComicsOnline.com! Come back to ComicsOnline for Critters, Comic Book Reviews, and Everything Geek Pop Culture!

Joe is a husband, #girldad, and Orphan of Apollo. He has drawn critters since riding the bus in 5th grade, and they have appeared on notes to loved ones, graffiti in a Latin classroom (sorry Rev. Dr Clark!), training slides for work, a newsletter in Alaska, and notes to his wife Tracy, who encouraged him to share them with the world. Contains pop culture references, stuff from the news, but mostly bad dad jokes.
