Miata Ann Sighting

That’s not a Goat Man! That’s Miata Ann! Miata Ann has a unique character origin. I heard someone call their daughter Miata Ann, and had to make a character with that name. Main Character Latuda needed some girl friends, so I invented Miata Ann. She works at the Geek Girls Coffee and Comics Shop. Sarge Critter is her father. She is my first critter from a single parent home. Her brother is Scary Larry. I think they were the first Critter Family I made that do not really have any real life inspirations. Technically, Sarge Critter is a “legacy character.” Which is my fancy way of saying I invented him a doodle in school, when I should have been taking notes.

Organic Narration

I created many of the characters independently, and then put them on a big cast sheet. Then I grouped them as units, family, friends, heroes, villains and henchman. I made most of these groupings to fill a gap in jokes I was telling. This process has strange results. Sarge is literally an army of one, and by complete accident, his black sheep son Scary Larry is the solo henchman. Fittingly, Miata Ann often does her own thing.
