Comic Book Review: The Scale Trade # 2

In the last issue, Agent Tritos was quickly disillusioned on his first outing with Agent Cutter, shedding his innocence in a righteous (or perhaps self-righteous?) bloodbath which left many poachers dead but saved the life of an innocent young dragon. In The Scale Trade # 2 a month has gone by and our DCA agents are still explaining their actions from that night. Now, a new case is dropped in their laps which will lead them along a mystery that could tear their partnership, and perhaps all of the DCA, apart.

Comic Book Review: The Principles of Necromancy # 2

The last issue poured sickly sweet off page after page, grimly tickling our curiosity with increasing intrigue as we saw the Necromancer’s obsession with conquering death propel him to achieve horrific scientific breakthroughs. When last we saw Dr. Eyes, he had just trialed off into the oblivion from whence he came, the devastation he wrought leaving unparalleled heartbreak in his wake. In The Principles of Necromancy # 2 we see him answer the desperate calls for help from a young girl named Eloise McCallister who has been taking care of her mother through worsening illness. Will Dr. Eyes help Eloise’s mother, and if so, what cost will he require as payment?

Comic Book Review: Silicon Bandits # 2

After developing game changing breakthroughs in the field of robotics, Kenji and Aurora created the C-47s, the most advanced androids the world has ever seen, dwarfing anything else on the market. In return for their tireless efforts, their boss, Etan Crane, illegally fired them, knowing that his political clout and vice grip on the legal system ensured he would face no consequences for breaking their lifetime contracts. So Kenji and Aurora agreed to enact revenge by stealing the source of his wealth and power, his supply of the precious material, gallium, thereby ruining him, and making them rich beyond measure in the process. Their secret for success? Four C-47 androids disguised as Aurora’s family, named Graham, Regina, Jade, and Milo. However, with their plan ready to enact, Johnny, a mysterious figure from Kenji’s war days, shows up unexpectedly. We know that Johnny is in trouble, owing a lot of money to violent criminals, with the bill past due. What is unclear is why Kenji is hesitant to be rid of this obvious danger to their plan, especially given Johnny’s unscrupulous nature. What secret from Kenji’s past is he hiding, and how will Johnny’s presence impact their plans?

Movie Review: Twisters

“This is a dramatization of tornados. They don’t actually destroy two towns a day and create fire whirls on the regular. If they did, there would be no people in Oklahoma.” 4/5 G. E. Uke, ComicsOnline.com

With each new evolution of the comics came a new sense of hope and wonder, and the recent Krakoan Age managed to provide a completely out-of-the-box take on these characters and give them something new to fight for.
