Comic Book Review: Capwolf and the Howling Commandos #2

by Zoe Gaussoin, Reporter

Official Description:
As the Howling Commandos struggle to decide the newly werewolfed Captain America’s fate, a miracle happens – and a new ally arrives. Meanwhile, their Nazi foes make a call that could change the tide of battle – and the fate of the world.

There is a full moon rising over Marvel this Wednesday! The first issue of Capwolf and the Howling Commandos started with an explosive and grueling Nazi tank battle. While Cap and the crew licked their wounds, they got surprise attacked by Nazi werewolves. This left the wounded and infected Captain America to face an unpredictable metamorphosis that could have catastrophic casualties.

Capwolf and the Howling Commandos #2 starts with a transformed Capwolf, upset that Corporal Dugan didn’t take him around the shed and put him down. New allies and mutated enemies set the groundwork for some face biting story line to unfold in issue three! Transform your bad moon night into a marvelous one and pick this series up!

Writer Stephanie Phillips has us stocking up on silver bullets. We’ll have to wait until the next full moon to find out if Capwolf can keep control of his gnawing new transformation. Artist Carlos Magno masterfully presents a fantastic portrayal of Capwolf that satisfied my nostalgic needs and immersed me into the narrative. Ryan Brown’s cover art first drew me in, paying homage to the 1992 rendition. It left me howling for more! When you finish Capwolf and the Howling Commandos #2, check out the next issue’s cover art and tell me you don’t all of a sudden come down with a case of lycanthropy too.

Rating: ★★★★½
