This is it, the miniseries finale we’ve all been waiting for: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – The Dog of War #5!
Last Issue:
Captain Benjamin Sisko led a stealth mission to recover the station’s beloved puppy, Latinum, and the missing Borg interface. But what he and his crew discover aboard the enemy craft has the potential to arm the Dominion with an alarming amount of power over the Federation in an already costly war.
This time:
With stolen Starfleet data on its way to the Dominion, Captain Sisko dons the mysterious Borg headset in an attempt to stop the transmission! Meanwhile, Major Kira and Lieutenant Commander Dax race to keep their new crewmember and prized corgi off the black market.
To quickly catch you up: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – The Dog of War tells a tale where Quark has a corgi he’s named Latinum that everyone has fallen in love with. There’s also a computer-mind interface device based on Borg technology that Captain Sisko has personally tested and maybe might be a little more prepared for than the next mind because hey, he’s the Emissary of the Prophets, after all. So it turns out that the dog and the device were all a ruse for information pirates to steal away all the data from DS9’s computers, and being as though this takes place at the height of the Dominion War, those files are very sensitive.
So now this issue it’s the final battle between man and man/machine interface! Can Sisko avoid being entirely subsumed by the siren of cyberspace supplied by the sinister Borg device? Will they act in time to prevent the pirates from passing private Federation tactical data to the dastardly Dominion? Why do these questions sound so very much like those posed by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – The Dog of War issue #4? Will we love the finale even more than the rest of the issues?
This issue is written by Mike Chen (Star Wars Brotherhood) and art by Angel Hernández (Star Trek – Green Lantern: The Spectrum War) with colors by Nick Filardi (Powers, Deadpool) and lettering by Neil Uyetake (Star Trek: Picard – Stargazer).
Latinum’s fate is finally decided, but will he end up with some creep who just wants to taxidermy our good boy? Let’s just say that both dog lovers and Deep Space Nine enthusiasts will continue to love this series to the very end. You know how even some of the best Star Trek episodes you can guess the ending just as the final act begins but you love every moment of it anyway? Yeah, this is one of those. Did you guess Latty’s ultimate fate? The how and the who and the who else? Did you guess what would happen with Sisko? Of course you did, but this series was still amazing and a perfect insert to the Deep Space Nine we love so well.
In the end…? We need say no more.
Now the only two questions remain: How long will we have to wait to see another such Deep Space Nine miniseries from Mike Chen? And who is gonna get me a copy of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – The Dog of War #5 with the photo cover?
