There’s ever a dull moment for the Earth’s Mightiest Hero. If Carol Danvers is not rescuing ships in a storm, she is facing down unknown anomalies in space. Can’t a girl ever get a break? Everyone seems to need her help…the Avengers, R.A.W. anyone else want to leave her a voicemail? A new villain is on the rise and Captain Marvel is on the top of their hit list. What is their connection to the ‘space thing’ that R.A.W. is tracking?

This is a great storyline to follow up Kelly Thompson’s run of Captain Marvel. After battling in the War of the Realms, teaming up with the X-Men, fighting alongside The Avengers and The Marvels, going head-to-head with The Brood, Carol has been one busy girl. With everything she has already faced and overcome, I am excited to see where Ann takes Captain Marvel’s story. The first chapter of this five issue mini-series is packed full of the action that we have come to see from our powerhouse female superhero. Paolo’s artwork sets up a great dynamic of the dark dangers of space and the vibrant colors of hope on Earth. There looks to be a lot of jam-packed adventure coming up in this storyline, so get ready to go “higher, further, faster”!

Rating: ★★★★☆
