We’ve got flashbacks, we’ve got Megazords, and we’ve got more power than you can shake a stick at. In this book, prepare for a crash course on Rita’s back story, meet Alpha One, experience romance and heartbreak, and see the green and white iterations of Tommy. Did I mention that we would see the Omega Rangers take shape? There is so much well-written story, and expanded lore, crammed into the pages of this book.
One thing that is done really well is the bits of lore that are added in as we go. The inclusion of Alpha One, as well as the deep-dive into the creation of the White Ranger really add some depth to the story. Parrott has taken well-established back story, and interjected new life into it while maintaining versions of characters many of us grew up with relatively intact. The art impresses in many panels, with only a couple of inconsistencies noted (the villains appearance in chapter 20 is relatively inconsistent from page to page, in particular Squat as an example). These inconsistencies are not long for drawing your attention, however.
Whether you’ve loved the story so far and want to revisit, or are enjoying it for the first time, Go Go Power Rangers: Book 2 – Deluxe Edition is a fantastic way to revisit some old friends, welcome some new ones, and join a journey that crosses time and space.
