Official Description:
Chaos ensues as the God City sets out on a collision course for Earth! Inside the living city, Captain Sisko and Dr. Crusher face off against the cosmic being wearing the ancient city as armor. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Commander Data pushes the Theseus and its crew to their limits in trying to keep up with the being zooming across the quadrant. But where do ants stand among giants?
From the Crystalline Entities to The Q Continuum, Benjamin Sisko has already faced off against a surprising collection of alien races in just the first 5 issues, but the latest cosmic entity might be one of the most interesting yet. In a quest to stop Kahless from gaining the power of the Gods, the crew of the Theseus has inadvertently awakened the slumbering God City of T’Kon…and it is angry. What can this motley crew do against a being the size of a city?
If you haven’t been reading IDW’s current Star Trek books, you are missing out on some impressive Trek content that touches on a lot of history and…Lore (back to him later). The crew for the main Star Trek series currently features Benjamin Sisko, Jake Sisko, Worf, Tom Paris, Data, Beverly Crusher and Montgomery Scott. As random as this assortment sounds, the character dynamics have played out beautifully. Thanks to the care of the creative team, the voices of our heroes translate perfectly to the page. Data gets a spotlight in this particular issue, as he must carefully captain the ship to Earth and rescue Sisko and the others. We also get the touching discussion between Benjamin and Jake that has been lingering since the series started (well worth the wait). From a visual standpoint, Rosanas and Loughridge took on the task of bringing an ancient God City to life, and T’Kon absolutely LIVES. The Cthulhu-like creature has a remarkable splash page, with text that will probably haunt my dreams for the foreseeable future.
In addition to this story, Star Trek: Defiant recently launched as a spin-off series from IDW Publishing. Issue #2 just hit this week as well, which follows the adventures of Captain Worf, Spock, Ro Laren, and Lore as they attempt to stop Kahless and save Alexander from his murderous cult. Both books have been enjoyable to say the least, and I would highly recommend adding both to your pull list at your local comic book store.
