Comic Book Review: Captain America: Unforgiven #1

by Zoe Gaussoin, Reporter

I’d like to preface this review by admitting that I’m not all caught up on the events that led to Captain America: Unforgiven. But it absolutely didn’t stop me from loving this story about redemption.  I’m a fan of continued numbering but don’t mind it when they have their own little mini story.

Official Description

CAPTAIN AMERICA…VAMPIRE HUNTER? The FORGIVEN have lost their way — defeat after defeat has made them bitter and bloodthirsty…and they’re starting to like it! Can CAPTAIN AMERICA bring them back into the light? Or will they give in to their darker natures? Witness the thrilling conclusion to the UNFORGIVEN saga…if you dare!

I like that the premise of Captain America: Unforgiven was forgiveness and change. We all deserve someone who sees the good in us, despite blood dripping from our fangs. Captain America is known for his undying optimism. These vampires have grown accustomed to the dark evil that lurks all around the Marvel universe. One by one, Captain finds them in their dark place and offers a helping hand.

Writer: Tim Seeley

Penciler: Sid Kotian

Cover Artist: Kyle Hotz

I will be keeping an eye out for the continued series. I will also be going back and reading DarkHold Omega so I can find out more about this rebirth phase. Was this Marvel’s plan the whole time? I’ll be catching up on back issues until the next Unforgiven one-off. Those who are caught up, what are your thoughts?

Rating: ★★★★☆

ComicsOnline gives Captain America: Unforgiven] 4 out of 5 good vampires.
