The Recharged era of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers continues with the release of issue #106!
Well, it’s official. Melissa Flores has earned the title of “Empress of Evil”, because the cliffhanger ending of MMPR #106 is mind-blowing. I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about a comic release, but I will resist the temptation to spoil a moment that made me cheer. I genuinely can’t wait to see how the Ranger Nation reacts to this choice, because I think it is engaging and innovative.
The entire issue is masterfully crafted. From the opening exchange between Rita and Zedd (as seen in the preview pages below) to a heartfelt conversation between old friends about the hardships of losing loved ones, there is so much to take in throughout this breathtaking comic. From an art perspective, the final pages of this issue might be my favorite in recent years, as the build is strategically executed to the big reveal.
In case you are wondering how/when that character got that particular item, Flores shared that this revelation was a plot thread that was planted by the previous creative team, so you might need to go back to your archive to connect a few dots.
This latest installment has been crafted by writer Melissa Flores (Power Rangers, The Dead Lucky), artist Simona Di Gianfelice (Firefly), colorist Raúl Angulo (Mighty Morphin), and letterer Ed Dukeshire. Main cover art is by star artist Taurin Clarke (Miles Morales: Spider-Man) and variant covers by acclaimed illustrators Bon Bernardo (Mighty Morphin) and G.B. Borea.
Official Synopsis:
The Mighty Morphin and Omega Rangers join forces in an epic struggle against a friend-turned-foe! Mistress Vile’s diabolical scheme also comes to a head as she possesses an object of immeasurable power–and a sidekick with darker origins than the Rangers thought possible!
