ComicsOnline is back with more coverage of C2E2 2022!
Spanning 26 rows, Artist Alley made quite an impact during the August 2022 event. Below are some highlights from the talented creators that took part in this year’s event. All of these artists have prints and content available for purchase at the links below (artists are not officially sponsored by ComicsOnline, but we may have purchased some of their artwork ourselves).
Afua Richardson has worked on both Marvel (Black Panther World of Wakanda) and DC (All Star Batman) projects as well as HBO’s Lovecraft County. Her art is bold and graphic with a wonderful use of strong colors and active line work.
Ann Marcellino
Ann Marcellino has a whimsical style reminiscent of classic Disney. Her work draws from classic fairytales, anime, comics, and more.
Chin Fong
Website
Chin Fong’s all original illustrations are sci-fi heavy with fantasy elements. Heavily stylized, he has a knack for contrasting emotional figures with industrial backgrounds.
Erik Ly
Website
While clearly able to transition between different styles, there is an element of surrealism in his work that is amazing. “Drifting Away” is particularly lovely.
Kelly McKernan
Website
Richly vivid, Kelly McKernan’s art focuses on female figures with elements of the mythological and fantastical.
Kelly McMahon
Website
Colorful, whimsical, minimalist – strong lines convey a fairytale quality to these illustrations.
Mike Mahle
Website
Mike Mahle has worked for some big names, including Disney and Netflix, but it’s his bold style reminiscent of the 20s and 30s and layered elements that should really grab your attention.
Saiyre Illustration and Design
By her own description: fantasy, surrealism, mythology. Fluid illustrations that almost seem to move. “Better to See You With” is a personal favorite.
SamanthaDoodles (a.k.a. Samantha Dodge)
Samantha Dodge has done work for Marvel, DC, and Boom!Studios. Her colorful reimagining of familiar characters are fun and cool.
Satrun – Cathrine and Sarah
Website
The Satrun’s specialize in both art and animation. Their work is fun, rich, and joyful with an emphasis on female empowerment.
Sean Anderson
Maximalist and a little wild, Sean Anderson’s art hits you in the face with color and movement from the first look.
Wildcraftcult
Wildcraftcult’s etsy store focuses on jewelry and other crafts as indicated by their name, but C2E2 offerings included some illustrations – in print, pin, and sticker form. Here’s hoping for an expansion – I’ve got my eye on the boys from Stranger Things.
