Wonder Woman returns! Diana of Themyscira continues her fight to save Man’s World with some help from her old friends Steve Trevor and Etta Candy. Worlds collide as the organization known as Villiany, Inc. launches a plan to attack Diana’s home. Can Wonder Woman find a way back to Paradise Island before it’s took late? Wonder Woman: Bloodlines is now available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD, and for Digital Download.
Set within the DC Universe Movie series cannon, audiences will get to experience a new variation of Wonder Woman’s origin and her first meeting with Steve Trevor. When Darkseid’s forces threaten the world, Diana makes the critical decision to leave Themyscira and go fight for the survival of the world. With help from Steve and Etta, Diana is introduced to Dr. Julia Kapatelis. Kapatelis’ expertise and guidance helped Diana to acclimate to Man’s World and find the best way to traverse this new landscape. While Diana learned from her new teacher, Julia’s daughter Vanessa became jealous of the attention that her new “sister” has received. In an act of rebellion, Vanessa eventually sides with the villains and intends to trade a special artifact with Dr. Poison. When all hope becomes lost, Vanessa volunteers to stand against Diana and becomes the cybernetically enhanced Silver Swan. What do Dr. Poison and Cyber want with Diana? What does their plan have to do with Themyscira? Can Diana find a way to return home from exile?
Wonder Woman: Bloodlines features the return of Rosario Dawson (Jane the Virgin, Rent, Luke Cage) as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, who flawlessly captures Diana’s essence on screen. Her vocal talents have been the highlights of the past DC Universe Movies, and it was great to see her receive her well-deserved standalone. Dawson is joined by Jeffrey Donovan (Fargo) as Steve Trevor, Marie Avgeropoulos (The 100) as Silver Swan, Adrienne C. Moore (Orange Is the New Black) as Etta Candy, Kimberly Brooks (DC Super Hero Girls) as The Cheetah & Giganta, Courtenay Taylor (Regular Show) as Dr. Poison, Constance Zimmer (Entourage) as Veronica Cale, Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) as Julia Kapatelis, Michael Dorn (Star Trek: The Next Generation) as Ferdinand, Cree Summer (Batman Beyond) as Hippolyta, and Mozhan Marno (The Blacklist) as Dr. Cyber. Moore and Donovan perfectly complimented Dawson’s Diana, and provided the necessary light-hearted tone to an otherwise gritty adventure. Michael Dorn was a pleasant addition and helped to round out the cast.

Overall
All of the elements to make a great story were there, but the film really didn’t get interesting until the back half of the film. This is the first solo Wonder Woman animated adventure since the 2009 film, and it unfortunately doesn’t hit the same mark as her first outing. The pacing and story was a bit inconsistent and seemed to drag at times. The voice acting definitely carried the film, and Dawson provides another stellar performance as Wonder Woman. That being said, it was great seeing Diana in action and the center of attention in a new release. While it had some bumps, this would be an easy starting point for new fans to learn more about Diana and her world.
