Blu-ray Review: LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes – Justice League: Gotham City Breakout

by Traci Gabaldon, Reporter

If you find watching LEGO movies funny or entertaining, and you like the DC Comics characters, then LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League- Gotham City Breakout is a movie for you. It features a wide variety of DC characters including Batman, Superman, Nightwing, Robbin, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, and the Teen Titans. It is an action packed animated movie that is not only entertaining for children, but can be funny for adults too.

The story begins with Batman giving a brief history of Nightwing and Robin. It then shows Batman and Robin chasing and capturing Penguin and Harley Quinn. Batman then spots a ninja that turns out to be Nightwing trying to give Batman a surprise party. Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin then surprise Batman with a vacation, and Superman volunteers to serve as a replacement for the Dark Knight. Can Superman handle Gotham’s criminal empire while the Caped Crusader is away? Check out the Blu-ray to learn more!

Gotham City Breakout features voice actors Troy Baker (Batman: Assault on Arkham) as Batman, Eric Bauza (Uncle Grandpa) as Bane and Commissioner Gordon, Greg Cipes (Teen Titans) as Beast Boy, John DiMaggio (Futurama) as DeathStroke, Will Friedle (Batman Beyond) as Nightwing/Dick Grayson, Grey Griffen (Batman: The Brave and the Bold) as Wonder Woman, Amy Hill (Lilo & Stich) as Madame Mantis, Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) as Batgirl, Vanessa Marshall (Star Wars Rebels) as Poison Ivy, Scott Menville as Robin/Damion Wayne, Nolan North (Transformers Prime) as Superman, Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Penguin, Khary Payton (Teen Titans) as Cyborg, Jason Spisak (Young Justice) as the Joker, and Tara Strong (Batman: The Animated Series) as Harley Quinn.

Overall

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League- Gotham City Breakout is a fun movie for both children and adults. At times it can be hard to keep up with all the different characters, but it is fun to see how they all fit into the larger story. I definitely found this adventure to be entertaining, and is a great addition to the LEGO DC Comics series.

(Managing Editor/Director of Media Relations) Matt interviewed MacGyver once (true story), and was invited on a submarine to the Arctic. It hasn't happened yet, but Matt hopes that some day he will get the call and he and Richard Dean Anderson will go off and have a wacky adventure.
