After being attacked by a rabid zombie at a boat party, Olivia “Liv” Moore (Rose McIver, Power Rangers RPM) finds that her world has been changed forever. Realizing that she has been transformed into a zombie, Liv begins to reshape her life and takes a job as a medical examiner. When she learns that eating the brains of murder victims gives her glimpses into their untimely demises, she decides to use her knowledge to help solve their cases (with the help of Seattle Police). Can Liv put her zombism to good use? Based on the stories published by DC Comics, iZombie is a very different take on zombies, and is one of the more original endeavors of the 2014-2015 television season.
Episode Highlights:
“Pilot” – Liv Moore fights to recreate her life and overcome her recent decent into zombism. When her latest meal reveals the fate of a murder victim, Liv finds herself working with Detective Babineaux, acting as a “psychic consultant”, to help solve the crime. This episode also introduces viewers to Major (Liv’s Ex-Finance), and Peyton (Liv’s roommate).
“Brother, Can You Spare a Brain?” – Liv is startled to find out more about the zombie who attacked her on the boat! Enter Blaine (David Anders, Alias), a drug dealer turned zombie. Liv and Blaine strike up a bond based on their current situation, and with a little help from Ravi (Liv’s boss), they hope to gain more knowledge about their affliction. Liv finds that Blaine is more than he seems, as he transforms others into zombies and then extorts them for money.
“Flight of the Living Dead” – When Holly, a former sorority sister of Liv’s, is found dead, Liv must seek the truth about her skydiving “accident”. Information is revealed about the corporation known as Max Rager (who funded the skydiving outing) and one of the members of the group is outed as a zombie! Who is actually behind Holly’s death? And what exactly does Max Rager have to do with zombism?
“Patriot Brains” – After former soldier is found dead at a Paintball Arena, Liv seeks the truth and finds a bit more than she bargained for. With the secret about Blaine’s business venture revealed, Liv is more determined than ever to take him out permanently. With a little help from Loll, she attempts to set a trap for Blaine, and use her new-found skill sets to take him out of the picture. When things go wrong, someone else must make the ultimate sacrifice to stop Blaine’s murderous rampage.
“Blaine’s World” – Ravi might have found a cure for zombism, but only a small amount of the cure exists… With Major being held captive by Blaine, Liv must find a way to save Major and stop Blaine before he kills the man she loves. Can Liv finally find happiness as a zombie?

If you enjoy Psych, Castle, or Reaper, you would definitely find iZombie to be an entertaining series. The first season is easily digestible (get it?), and you can power through these episodes to get ready for the upcoming Season Two premiere. iZombie is a very different approach to the zombie genre, and sets up a world of new possibilities.
