Over time, Sam realizes that something isn’t right with himself, but Ezekiel convinces Dean to keep it a secret from his brother.

GO TO YOUR AIRLOCK!).
Meanwhile, Castiel reclaims his powers by stealing the grace of another angel. Dean and Castiel team up with Crowley to expel Gadreel from Sam’s body, but are forced to let the former King of Hell go in exchange for his help.
The Winchester brothers’ relationship slowly crumbles because Sam is furious at Dean’s deception and the aftermath of the prophet’s tragic death. Crowley and Dean team up to go after Abbadon and the only weapons that can kill the Knight of Hell, the First Blade and the Mark of Cain. Dean acquires both from Cain himself, the original Knight of Hell and the creator of the rest of the Knights. In the meantime, Sam helps Castiel search for Gadreel. Castiel then comes face-to-face with fellow angel, Bartholomew, who wants him to join his faction of followers hunting for Metatron. Castiel disagrees with him and kills the other angel in self-defense, causing a number of angels to look at him for leadership.
Dean eventually finds Abbadon and kills her, but the Mark of Cain starts to affect him, bestowing him with great strength, but a painful desire to kill. Metatron continues to play the role of God with the powers of the angel tablet. Gadreel grows tired of Metatron’s tricks and unites with Castiel to try and stop him.

Gadreel is foced to sacrifice himself as part of a spell to free Castiel. Meanwhile, Sam arrives too late to stop Metatron from stabbing his brother through the heart and Dean dies in his arms. Castiel manages to trick Metatron and take back Heaven, but chooses to spare his life and locks him in Heaven’s dungeon though is dying from his draining grace. - 3 episode commentaries (Always appreciated)
- The Men of Letters Interactive Set Experience (This could have benefited from a “Play-All” – We don’t really need to click room to room.)
- Behind the Scenes of Supernatural: A Fan’s Perspective (Imagine there’s a contest where one lucky fan gets flown to Vancouver to visit the set and film a making-of documentary. Now imagine that everything you thought you knew about the creators and talent behind Supernatural is wrong. This painfully funny short film alone is worth the price of this Blu-ray set.)
- 2013 Comic Con Panel (We’re always waiting for them in the press room while their panel is on and then they show up for our interviews and say funny things like “…As we said in the panel…” Arrgh. So it’s actually really nice that they’ve included this panel in the extras.)
- Unaired Scenes (Carrot tops and bits of gristle)
- Gag Reel (They’ve got a damn funny one this year. Totally worth watching more than once)
- And more! (We couldn’t find the “and more” so maybe this is an Easter Egg that requires some spell to reveal it)
Overall
It’s been a long hard road for the Winchesters and their team, but Sam and Dean and Castiel will never stop fighting to save individuals from supernatural monsters and all of humanity from Angels and Demons. Likewise Jared, Jensen, Misha, Mark, and all the rest of the cast and creators have proven that they won’t stop creating some of the best television available. Because Supernatural refused to crumble after the writers’ strike like most shows, they kept on shooting twenty-plus episode seasons and as a result, they’ve already shot over two hundred episodes in just nine seasons and show no signs of stopping. For long-term fans, picking up the new Supernatural The Complete Ninth Season Blu-ray is a given. For those not yet acquainted? You may want to give Supernatural a try. Supernatural: Season 1-8 is available as a perfect and appealingly inexpensive gift set, and only lacks last season (oh look, that’s available below!). If you like Angels, Demons, monsters, vampires, classic cars, classic rock, or handsome dudes, this show is for you.
