Seriously everyone, you need to watch the trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. Now. I’ll wait.
Every year film makers try to recapture the magic of the original science fiction story, not a sequel to an established franchise and not a reboot of an older previously successful property. More often than not they utterly fail. Even when the films themselves have reach and scope they just fail to connect with audiences. And sometimes they just suck.
Successes like last years Gravity makes the gamble worth it. This year there are several orignal science fiction films coming out and none of the trailers for them have given me goosebumps the way Interstellar has. Staring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Michael Caine, the film looks amazing and heartbreaking and everything a good science fiction epic should be. There is a whole conversation that should be had about the importance to space exploration and this film looks like it is ready start to it.
Interstellar comes out on November 7th, 2014.
