Making fans very happy ABC is not only renewing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., they have also picked up Marvels Agent Carter and I just have to say YAY! The shows origin was in Marvel One Shot Agent Carter, one of the many mini movies Marvel Studios has been producing to argument their DVD material and continue to grow their cinematic  universe, Marvel One Shot Agent Carter being included in the Iron Man 3 dvd.

Staring Hayley Atwell the series will be set one year after Captain America: the First Avenger and will follow the exploits of Agent Peggy Carter post World War II as she not only deals with the loss of her love Steve Rogers but also having a hard time at her job working for the S.S.R. (Strategic Scientific Reserve) in face of a little old fashioned Mad Men flavor sexism. Peggy Carter is capable of so much more then typing, filing and getting coffee for the guys and I am guessing this show will showcase her many abilities and accomplishments, the least of which is being a killer shot with a hand gun. She will be abetted in this quest by Howard Stark and I am begging the producers and writers right now, please don’t let them hook up, ever. The Avengers have enough problems to deal with without adding the drama of “Hey my dad hooked up with the love of your life after you were proclaimed dead, wanna bagel?” to the mix.

The pilot was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeeley, the writers who brought us both Captain America movies, and Marvel is keeping the details to themselves for the time being. What is known is that this is going to be a short run series, most likely to act as a bridge to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D‘s second season. Who knows, maybe we will even find out which Howling Commando is Trips granddaddy. (I cast my vote here and now for Dum Dum Dugan.)
