Bored? Lonely? Constantly finding yourself with nothing to do? Fear not, for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have got your back with this slew of upcoming comic book-based video games!

Coming very shortly to Australia with a September 25 release date is Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure, where players get to combine “the boundless creativity of the award-winning video game franchise with thousands of DC Comics characters and objects across DC Comics worlds – all drawn in the classic Scribblenauts art style”, and will be available on Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PC.

As an extra incentive for a limited time, those who purchase the game will receive an exclusive free gift in the form of an original DC Comics digital comic titled Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure – “A Battle Most Bizarre”, in which Maxwell and his magic notebook must assist Superman and Batman in their battle against Bizarro and the Joker.

While on the subject of DC Comics, it would be incredibly remiss of us to not shed some light on the next instalment (or rather, “instalments”) in the Arkham series of videogames. First up, a game which just about everybody knows about by now, comes Batman: Arkham Origins. Taking place several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and set in an expanded Gotham City, “the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight.”

Villains such as Bane, Deathstroke, Black Mask, Deadshot and The Joker have been announced so far, as well as an all-new Crime Scene system and Remote Claw Gadget. Also announced have been a sweet Collector’s Edition of the game and an even sweeter ‘Definitive’ Collector’s Edition, both featuring all manner of awesome goodies. Australian and New Zealand Bat-fans should be stoked to know that they are the only countries to be offered TWO different Collector’s Editions of these games! Just have a look at the photos for the Australian versions of these Collector’s Editions. And while you’re at it, why not treat yourself to some trailers as well?

Arkham Origins Definitive

For the first time ever, the Arkham Batman comes to handheld consoles in the form of Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. The game is set to feature stealth gameplay, free-flow combat, and of course Batman’s glorious gadgets, as players “continue the storyline of the console version and discover more details of the Dark Knight’s past. After gang-fueled uprisings occur within the walls of Blackgate Prison, Batman is called in to restore order and put an end to the rebellion before the chaos implodes.” Yeah, you’re probably gonna want to see the trailer for this game as well…

Both Batman: Arkham Origins (PS3, Xbo 360, Wii U and PC) and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS) are due for release worldwide on October 25 this year.

Not excited yet? Perhaps that’s because you prefer Marvel over DC Comics. Which is fine, because Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is also delivering on the Marvel front with the impending release of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes.

Players will be able to unlock over 100 characters including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Deadpool, Loki and even the mighty Galactus! “The game will pack in a plethora of super-cool character abilities, combat-like action sequences, epic battle scenes and a unique story told with playful LEGO humour”, as players “travel across LEGO Manhattan and visit key locations from the Marvel Universe, such as Stark Tower, Asteroid M, a Hydra Base and the X-Mansion.”

Oh, and did we neglect to mention that Stan Lee himself will also be joining the cast as a playable character? Well he is, so check out the videos already. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes will release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, PC and also Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita some time in Spring 2013 (Australia). ‘Nuff said!

Audio visual multimedia extraordinaire (at least in his own mind), Aussie Dave dragged Jayden into this glorious den of geek pop culture, and it's gonna take more than what you can offer to drag him away. Unless you bribe him with Ninja Turtles related merchandise... then all bets are off.
