To prepare for the Final Season of How I Met Your Mother, the entire cast made their way to SDCC 2013! Check out this amazing video of Ted’s future family, and some highlights from the panel:
- Season 9 is the final season premiering on September 23rd; there will be 24 episodes Mondays at 8pm.
- Audience member shouts, “Ted suited up!” Josh Radnor (voice of Ted) replied, “I learned my lesson.”
- Season 9 starts by everyone heading off to the wedding.
- There’s going to be flashbacks and flashforwards; the season is not going to solely be of the wedding itself.
- Wayne Brady come back as a recurring cast member for the role of James Stinson.
- There are 2 slaps left for Marshall to hit Barney.
- How I Met Your Mother is setup so you know Ted wins in the end, showing that everything leading up to the point happens for a reason.
- The heart and consistency of the show would not be the same without Pamela Fryman.
- Josh Radnor tells a short story. “A few years ago, I was in Majorca and there was this 23 year old kid I met who owned a local bar (his father just died). He had never been off the island of Majorca and he was the biggest How I Met Your Mother fan. He knew every word; he knew the show better than anyone of us knows the show. I was eating there one time and asked if I could have an extra napkin. He was like “no-can-do-sville, baby doll”. This kid was a serious HIMYM fan. He put his arm around me one time and said you know why I love your show so much? It’s because it’s all a flashback from the future, but it’s to the present so it helps me to realize that the past is now and these are all my great memories. It reminds me to really enjoy my life and be present for my life because these are going to be my memories. He learned how to appreciated his life in a much more vital way because of the show.”
- Neil Patrick Harris says, “I never thought I’d get to make out with so many chicks. It’s like a lot. I dry humped an old lady for more than an hour… and then I came to work.”
And finally, the best moment of the panel:
- Audience member says, “The Neil Patrick Harris – Step 1. Approach girl. Step 2. Reveal to her that you are secretly a doctor. Step 3. Reveal to her that you have also voiced for Spider-Man on several ocassions. Step 4. Take her back to your place to ride the California screamin’. I request the highest of fives.” Neil Patric Harris says, “You got it!” and runs into the audience to high five the person.
