10. Robin Hood (Robin Hood)

This is probably a prime example of why I decided to go with “favorite” instead of “hot.” Although there is something very attractive about the character of Robin Hood as a whole, not just in this movie but in the many many versions of him over the media. We all love Robin Hood. He’s clever and funny and noble. He has a good heart and means well, but he’s got just enough of that devil-may-care attitude you can’t help but like the guy. He’s good with kids, he likes music and singing, and he has a very loyal group of friends who are cool to hang out with. I love this movie, and him being cast as a fox was the best idea they could’ve come up with.

9. Goliath (Gargoyles)

Annnnd here’s the other one on the list that isn’t exactly hot, but whatever, I totally dig him. Goliath has that gorgeous deep voice and he’s intense and dedicated. He’s a fierce leader and warrior, but he was completely devoted heart and soul to Demona and then to Eliza. He’s someone you can see yourself fighting with and wanting to follow, who you’d trust to protect you. Plus he can take you flying and come on, who wouldn’t be okay with that? He can’t see you during the day which is unfortunate, but either can vampires, so whatever. The guy could stand to lighten up a bit, but he’s practically guy smiley compared to #2, so.

8. Aladdin (Aladdin)

This starts a line of characters that I call “the type” I didn’t realize yet that I had until now. Facepalm. Riff raff, street rat, I don’t buy that, if only they’d look closer! Would they see a poor boy, no siree. They’d find out there’s so much more to meeeee. He’s the diamond in the rough. He had a rough life due to no fault of his own, no father and his mother dead, and he lived off the streets hoping for something bigger and better. Aladdin fell in love with Jasmine at first sight, but he likes that she’s intelligent and keeps him on his toes. He has a genie best friend and gave his last wish to him. I think what  I dig the most about Aladdin is he’s honest about his flaws. He messes up and he learns from his mistakes and doesn’t make them again. And he can also take me flying.

7. Flynn Rider (Tangled)

Aladdin and Flynn are cut from the same cloth, but Flynn wins my heart because he’s very meta and self-referential, which just happens to be something I find personally hilarious. His sense of humor matches up well with mine. I like his attitude and his cockiness, and that his name is Eugene and he’s a complete nerd underneath. I like that his story with Rapunzel isn’t love at first sight rather they work their way over time to that point, and that she wears the pants a bit in that relationship. He cut off her hair and was willing to die to free her from the witch. Noble heart, right there. Plus nothing is more fantastic than him having a fight with a horse using a frying pan. Or his teasing with the chameleon. Also there’s the smolder.

6. Spike (Cowboy Bebop)

Rogue? Check. Weirdly angular face? Check. Witty? Check. I’m going to start facepalming at myself soon. I love Spike, because here’s a guy with a real checkered past. It’s bad. He did some bad things, worked for the wrong people, his hands are covered in blood. And it’s not really that he cares about redemption or is searching for it. He’s still a bounty hunter, that’s his job, he never excuses himself from the work he’s done. It does help that this show has amazing visuals and music and I can’t look at him without seeing him crash out of that church with the bloody rose and choir singing. He sticks in my head. There’s something very elegant and smooth about Spike.

5. Tulio (The Road to El Dorado)

If you haven’t seen this movie yet, go immediately and watch it, because it’s amazing and hilarious. Buuuuut yes he’s a criminal. I wouldn’t say he has a heart of gold, but he has enough of a moral compass not to want to hurt anyone or see anyone hurt. He still has a healthy sense of preservation, however. What I like in particular about Tulio is how neurotic he is. He’s about as OCD as I am, which is saying a lot. He’s the plan maker and the one in charge, although he fails miserably at that, and he’s the skeptic. He’s cautious, wary, shrewd, and highly neurotic. He has terrible luck and he’s obsessed with gold. I love him. Shhh.

4. Dimitri (Anastasia)

I know. I know. LOL what is wrong with me. So rough around the edges servant boy turned con man here. It’s at this point in the list I wonder if I should change my list, because I’m starting to get embarrassed at how obvious I am. I have a thing for witty guys who can verbally banter all day. Dimitri falls under this category. He’s the type of guy you elope with instead of becoming an Empress. It does not hurt in the least he is voiced by one of my real celebrity crushes, John Cusack. I really love this movie. The visuals are great, the music is great, and I like the flawed look of his design. Look at his broken nose and strange jaw line. He’s not classically handsome the way Disney men are, he has a more average appeal to him, and the boy knows how to waltz.

3. Remy LeBeau (X-Men Animated Series)

This is thankfully the last of the rogue/thief on my list. I need to rethink my life choices after this. Whatever, sorry not sorry. And I’d never, ever be sorry for loving Remy LeBeau aka Gambit from the X-Men. Gambit and Rogue are my favorite X-Men couple from the comics and this show. The voice acting for him was amazing. That gorgeous Cajun drawl no one can forget, and the thing is everything he said was pretty ridiculous, especially since he’s saying it in the third person, and he has a weird costume on, but it doesn’t matter. There is something so appealing about Gambit. It’s a reason he’s so popular with comic fans and he’s had his own mini-series. He’s in love with a woman he can never touch. It’s unreasonably romantic and I can’t even find it in me to make fun of it. Watch the video above and tell me he isn’t awesome. GO AHEAD.

2. Bruce Wayne (Batman: The Animated Series)

Batman is my hero. I mean literally. I’ve loved him since I was a kid, he was always my favorite comic book character and I love the Gotham Knights. The only reason I read DC was for him and the Bat Family. It’s widely known that Batman: The Animated Series is one of the best animated shows of all time. The writing, art, music, and characters are all top notch. I could write a novel for real about why I love this character. He’s determined and intense and badass. I wanted to be Batgirl so much growing up, and my affection runs for him to today. So who could beat BATMAN? It might surprise you.

1. Trent Lane (Daria)

Daria is my favorite animated show. I own it on DVD, thanks to my sister, and I’ve seen every episode more times than I can count. My Twitter icons are Daria. I related so well to her in my teenage years that in some ways it helped me get through the harder and more awkward times of high school. I went as Daria for Halloween one year. So would it shock anyone to know that I saw something attractive in Trent Lane much like Daria did? Proooobably not. The funny thing is I can see him now the way Daria eventually came to see him, and that’s as a guy living at home, sleeping all day, in a dead end band. They were never going to work out; her ambition and drive was never going to mesh well with his more laid back way of life. But I completely understood what she liked about him. Trent was confident and relaxed and put people at ease. He was honest and direct, but sympathetic and nonjudgmental. A great example of where Trent shines is when Daria and Jane are fighting because of Tom (GRRRR). He gives gentle support to Jane and while he gets that Daria didn’t mean to hurt his sister, he made it clear that she shouldn’t excuse herself from responsibility. BETRAYAL STAB IN THE BACK BETRAYAL. He might be an eternal slacker, but he looked past the obvious and saw Daria for who she was. He saw a lot of people for who they were. There’s a part of me that will forever want the two of them to end up together, OTP.
