The ultimate combination of three creative powerhouses, Greg McLean (director of Wolf Creek and Rogue), Tristan Jones (writer for Tales of the TMNT and IDW’s Ghostbusters comics) and Chris DiBari (artist for Top Cow, Dynamite Entertainment and Boom! Studios) are uniting to bring to life this very exciting venture.
Set in 1900 during the Victorian Era, crowd-funded project Sebastian Hawks: Creature Hunter will tell the tale of the main character (who amazingly is named Sebastian Hawks), a swashbuckling adventurer who is part historian, part explorer and part British spy. A jack of many trades, Hawks is the best parts of Indiana Jones, Sherlock Holmes and James Bond transfused into the one human being. Also, there are monsters, which are always welcome. Tasked with a special mission to hunt down and capture twelve mythical creatures, Sebastian Hawks: Creature Hunter looks to be one comic book epic that should not be missed.
Well aware that this theme is potentially within dangerous territory of the “been there, done that” variety, the creative team are determined and committed to setting this book apart from any other similar properties that already exist, largely by focusing on a very human and believable lead character. From the few bits and pieces that I have seen from this project so far, they seem to be doing exactly that, and I for one am incredibly exciting and keen for Sebastian Hawks to see the light of day.
Which brings us to where you, our loyal follower, can do your part to give vicarious birth to Sebastian Hawks. “But Jayden, how can I help? I’m no creative genius, what could I possibly do to contribute?” So glad you asked, my inquisitive friend. Simply head on over to the Sebastian Hawks: Creature Hunter page on Pozible.com and make your pledge. If you are familiar with the way that Kickstarter works then you already know the deal: different rewards are granted for different pledge amounts, meaning that depending on how much you pledge for this project to commence you will be securing yourself a copy of the book, or some exclusive artwork, or something even more awesome! And the best part is that in the unfortunate and incredibly sad event that this project doesn’t gain enough money to reach its production target, you won’t end up paying a cent. But we aren’t going to let that happen, right team?
Also worthy of note is that while this project is primarily based in Australia, anybody from anywhere in the world can pledge and receive their share of the goodies. So you really don’t have any excuse for not being a part of this creative masterpiece, do you? Sebastian Hawks: Creature Hunter awaits at Pozible.com!
