by Matt Sernaker, Managing Editor
Black Friday is almost here again, so now is the perfect time to start looking for something for your geeky significant other. Here are a few DVD/Blu-ray suggestions from your friends at ComicsOnline:
Community: The Complete Second Season DVD
The gang is back and ready to start their second year together at Greendale Community College, and new challenges and surprises will push the bonds of this Study Group to their limit. Paintball was just the beginning. Get ready for zombies, clay-mation, trampolines, babies, politics, Betty White and more in the thrilling second season.
ReBoot: The Complete Series – Mainframe Edition DVD Set:
ReBoot, by Mainframe Entertainment, was one of the groundbreaking shows that hit televisions in the early 90s. It ushered in a new wave of animation, blowing audiences away with its crazy, newfangled, polygon-filled imagery. Hitting the airwaves an entire year before movie audiences were dazzled by Pixar’s Toy Story, ReBoot quickly gained a following in Saturday morning cartoon watchers who have begged for years for the series, which had been previously locked up in various legal battles to be released in a full set. But now the entire series of the first fully computer-animated TV show finally comes to DVD for the first time ever.
Stargate Atlantis- The Complete Series Blu-ray
Stargate Atlantis makes the jump to High Definition with the release of Stargate Atlantis: The Complete Series on Blu-ray! Now is the time to relive the epic five year tale of the Atlantis Expedition. Watch as the team faces off against threats from the Wraith, the Replicators, the Wraith, the Replicators, the…(wait this is getting a bit repetitive), and many other threats!
The Lord of The Rings – The Motion Picture Trilogy Extended Edition on Blu-ray
There have been a few Lord of the Rings sets so far, and this set is the biggest ever, and the packaging is a nice gilded cardboard case with a magnetic clasp that hides 3 separate cases of discs, each with a main feature on Blu-ray and loads of extras on DVDs. At first glance I thought I might be disappointed at the extras being on DVDs, but really I wasn’t as concerned with the visuals as I was with the stories they were telling. Keep in mind that these extras cover not just the movies, but also the books, so when you’ve completed all 26+ hours of them, you’ve pretty much had a class on Middle Earth.
