TV Review: Futurama “Neutopia” and “Benderama”

by Kroze Kresky, Media Editor

The show that was once canceled and then reborn as a set of DVD movies and then brought back as a full series returns again for another season of high tech futuristic wacky hijinx! That’s right, tonight is the return of Futurama on Comedy Central with two all brand new episodes starring our favorite bunch of lovable space delivery misfits. The real question is can the series still meet our expectations in terms of the level of hilarity we expect from this series.

In “Neutopia” we are treated to a tale of what happens when the crew of Planet Express tries their hands at being an airline when the company is out of money… Things don’t go as planned as they end up crashing on a planet due to Fry falling asleep at the wheel. Upon the surface, the men and the women end up fighting over leadership of their now stranded group, and thus are quickly turned against each other in a hilarious battle of the sexes by a alien rock creature. This episode is classic Futurama humor at its finest and is the perfect return for the series and will have you howling and rolling on the floor in fits of giggles.

“Benderama” focuses mainly on Bender and his uber laziness… in an attempt to try and make less work for himself, Bender uses the Professor’s matter duplicator to make smaller copies of himself to do all his work for him but those copies have other plans. The clones start duplicating more of themselves until there is a whole army of various sized Benders who are all lazy as hell and are slowly consuming the entire world’s supply of booze and the only person who can possibly put a stop to them is our favorite bending robot Bender… who is too busy being lazy to care. While not as laugh out loud funny as the first episode, this episode still is filled with tons of humor and is a good follow up to the first episode of the night.

Futurama is back and better than ever. Make sure you tune into Comedy Central for ALL NEW episodes of Futurama!
