WonderCon 2011: DC Nation Panel
Here are some of the highlights for the DC Nation Panel at WonderCon 2011:
-DC has always been committed to giving the readers what they ‘like, what you don’t like, and what gets you excited about comics’.
-Glad to hear people like how things are going, and always listing to input from the fans, including restarting the letters from fans sections at the back of issues, which helps give the creators a boost and keeps them connected on a personal level.
-Fan question: ‘So War of the Green Lanterns, what’s that about?’ Didio: “Well, the Green Lanterns… are at war”.
-Fan question: Deadman: Is he still alive or is he dead right now? Answer: Yes.
-DC Retroactive – series for major heroes (Flash, WW, Superman, etc.) based on storylines and style from three separate decades- 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.
-Starting to rate DC issues so parents can make decisions about what to share with their kids, but its great that instead of parents throughout comics, they’re trying to get their kids started.
-Superman right now has to reconnected physically/emotionally to the people of earth now that he’s back.
-Wonder Woman is examining herself, and figuring out what she is if you strip away all the WW stuff.
-They will always treat Superman/Batman/WW well, because they are the foundation of what DC is judged on, so they have to be the best they can be.
-The Anti-Monitor got compared to M. Night Shyamalan, had one great kick, and then has just be kicked around and sucked ever since.
