Adrianne Palicki has been annouced to be taking on the tiara and bracelets of DC’s amazon princess Wonder Woman. Palicki is probably best known for her role on NBC’s Friday Night Lights where she played the role Tyra Colette. She was also recently seen in Legion and will be in the upcoming remake of Red Dawn. (Why did this need to be remade?!?)
The NBC Series Wonder Woman based on the iconic character will have Diana Prince balancing her life as a high powered business executive and a vigilante in Los Angeles. Produced by David E. Kelly and Bill D’Elia. David E. Kelly is primarily known for his satyrical, pushing the envelope Drama/Comedies like Ally McBeal, Boston Public, Boston Legal and The Practice.
It will be interesting to see how the show is played out. I’m not sure how Kelly will handle the action of Wonder Woman and to see if the mythology and magic aspects of the character will be brought into the show since I immediately think more human less superhuman when I hear “Vigilante” and there’s virtually no mention of the diplomatic role Diana is typically associated with carrying out in “Man’s World”.
Again Kelly’s past works tend to focus on office relationships and inter personal politics. I have truly liked some of his other work particularly Boston Legal and am curious to see what he does but I hope he does not leave out the action expected of such a dynamic character.
