CC2010: Stargate and Caprica Panels (SPOILERS)

Stargate Universe and Caprica returned to Comic-Con this year and made a big impact on Ballroom 20. Before we get to some of our exclusive interviews with the cast from these hit shows, we wanted to share some quick highlights from the panels:

SPOILER ALERT!!!

CC2010: Twisted Metal is back!

Today the Twisted Metal panel offered a glimpse of what when the series gets a reboot next year. For starters, David Jaffe, the founder of developer Eat Sleep Play revealed to the crowd that they would be using live actors for the cut scenes and story-telling elements within the game.  This time, they are primarily focusing on three main characters for the campaign – Sweet Tooth, Dollface, and Mr. Grimm – with three separate endings for each character.  The Preacher would also be involved in the story, but may not be a playable character at the start of the game.

The footage of the live action portions here is extremely rough and taken with a small digital camera.

CC2010: Vampire Weekend should’ve named themselves Vampire Groupies.

I reported yesterday that I would attempt the train today.  I did, and it was way cheaper, and easier, than any parking shenanigans that I’ve ever previously encountered at Con.  It's just too bad that it doesn't run all night; no one would need Designated Drivers if it did.

CC2010: Thursday- Adventures on the Con Floor

Although there was so much I wanted to get done on Thursday, a string of events made it near impossible to get to the convention center before 2:00pm. However, what I did manage to get through was definitely exciting! No panels got seen, but a thorough walkthrough of about half the convention center got done.

CC2010: Partying with Jill Thompson

What a find for us lucky ComicsOnline personnel! On the way back from Comic-Con, we came across a party being hosted by the kind and gracious Threadless clothing company. Nomad spotted Jill Thompson, the writer and illustrator of Little Endless Storybook.  We all danced with her to a combination of modern and 80's dance music. It was nice to know that Jill was able to let loose and enjoy herself.

CC2010: Transformers: Prime Premieres on Hub! “The Bucket Head is Back!”

The Transformers series has undergone a series of changes over the years. Your favorite robots have even appeared on the big screen, but now they are set for a new revival this October. “Ten, ten, ten!”, cheered the crowd, after hearing the release date will be on October 10, 2010. However, that will not be the only new gem out there. On October 10th, Transformers Prime will premiere on an all new station tagged “Hub”. Leading Hub is a woman that is responsible for bringing about shows such as Batman: The Animated Series, Muppet Babies, and The Smurfs. She also started up Fox Kids and brought Power Rangers to America. Margaret Loesch now returns to break new ground with Hub with the premiere of Transformers Prime.

CC2010: Jason Palmer a Must-See Artist!

Today at the San Diego Comic-Con I had the opportunity to interview extremely-talented artist Jason Palmer at the Jason Palmer Studios booth (booth 4407).  My full interview will be posted later this week, but I had to get the highlights out there to all you Con attendees while you still have a chance to go by and meet Jason at his booth, and see some of his amazing work!

CC2010: Burn Notice Panel

The first day of Comic-Con has officially come and gone. The highlights of my day would definitely be the Burn Notice panel. Bruce Campbell, always hilarious, was the only star to make it to the panel, but hands-down, it was worth it. Along with writer/creator Matt Nix, writer/director and guest actor on Burn Notice Tim Matheson and writer Alfredo Barrios Jr., the panel was full of entertaining conversations, show secrets and funny joke cracking, mostly by Bruce.

CC2010: Adventures in Pancake Fiction Wonderland

I woke up today at the butt-crack of dawn in the Quest to Find Parking.  No one else was up at the butt-crack of dawn, except maybe the parking attendants, so I found an optimal spot closest to the very edge of the parking lot.  Parked next to me was a white van, and a seagull looking very much like I caught it in the act.  I started reacting the way I usually do when I see a seagull (Saying in an annoyingly nasal voice, “Mine?  Mine?  Mine?”), then realized I had absolutely nothing better to do.  I had to register, but registration didn’t open until 8:30.

I checked the time on my phone.  10 minutes past the butt-crack.

CC2010: Preview Night Exclusive

While the outside of the convention center was lined with anxious people who never knew which line to get into, indoors was a little bit more relaxed. Because the Exhibit Hall didn’t open until 6, upstairs seemed like the place to be.  Under The Sails was crowded with people getting their badges, getting limited Comic-Con bags (those were even bigger than some people, including me), and walking around the freebee tables, looking for anything and everything happening at Con.
