Life Unexpected is the story of 15 year old Lux (Brittany Robertson) who finds her biological parents in her search for emancipation after years of foster care living. Cate Cassidy (Shiri Appleby, Roswell) is her biological mother that gave her up for adoption when she was in high school. Cate is a radio personality with her boyfriend Ryan Thomas (Kerr Smith, Dawson’s Creek) in the city of Portland. While Nate Bazile (Kristoffer Polaha, Mad Men) is the father who never knew Lux existed. He lives above his bar, and has barely had contact with Cate over the years. Lux losses her bid for emancipation, and custody is granted to Cate and Nate.
This week Life Unexpected, in it's sophomore year, joins forces for a crossover episode with veteran show One Tree Hill.
In the episode, Cate and Ryan are newlyweds trying to have a child. However, Cate is not so sure she wants another child just yet, and continues to take her birth control. The radio station for which they both work for, is organizing a music festival. During the festival they are joined by One Tree Hill’s residents Haley James Scott (Bethany Joy Galeotti) and Mia Catalano (Kate Voegel). Cate finds out that Haley and her share a common background. Both of them were valedictorians, and got pregnant in high school by athletes, who happened to be named Nathan.
As the episode reveals course changing secrets, the wise Haley helps Cate with her dilemma so she can find the answer she was searching for.
The episode is full of music guest stars like Bethany, Mia and the singer/songwriter of the show’s theme Ben Lee and Rain Perry. But the biggest music star of all is Grammy Award-winner Sarah McLachlan, who makes an emotional background for the episodes climax.
The episode will air Tuesday October 12, 2010 on The CW.
