Motion comics are becoming an increasingly popular way to bring comics to broader audience by using slight animations and voice acting. The latest comic to receive the multimedia treatment is Joss Whedon's astonishing run on X–Men. After years of crafting his masterful banter and wit-filled dialog on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly, Joss brings his uniquely snappy style of writing to X–Men.
Now Astonishing X-Men- "Gifted" The Complete Motion Comic is available on DVD!
The storyline involves Kitty Pryde returning to the X–Men after a long absence to help lead the new generation of Mutants at Professor X's School For Gifted Youngsters. Things quickly take a turn for the dire when it is found out that there seems to be a cure for being a mutant being made. This poses a problem to the X–Men's way of life as several of their students think about taking said cure. Along with that a new evil has arrived in their corner of the world to rouse up some serious trouble.
The choice to adapt this storyline to a motion comic format is great as it quickly and easily fits right into the new medium. The voice acting really makes Joss Whedon's writing shine like never before and the action sequences are really brought to life through the motion sequences that really gives em bite.
At 85 minutes long, it's an easy watch that is very entertaining and engaging. This is also quite an improvement over past attempts at motion comics with a full line up of voice actors (like the infamous Dan Green) to really complement the story and presentation.
The extras are really nothing to write home about but seeing as how this Motion Comic was just a webseries, its hard to expect too much from it.
Special Features:

Overall, its a worthwhile watch even if you have already read the comic. The enhancements made to the story just improves the enjoyment of it all. Hopefully Marvel will continue to bring the rest of the Astonishing X–Men storyline to the motion comic format.
