PSN Mini Game Review: Zombie Tycoon

Releasing last October, Zombie Tycoon was one of the first Playstation Network “Minis” made available to the public.  PSN Minis are a collection of games that can be downloaded and played on either the PS3 or the PSP and are smaller than 100Mb in size.  Minis generally offer short, fun and easy-to-pick-up experiences that are light on the wallet.  Priced at $4.99, Zombie Tycoon is one of the more original experiences you’ll find and we here at ComicsOnline thought we’d take a good hard look at a game we, and you, might have missed previously.

DVD Review: The Bad Mother’s Handbook

The movie The Bad Mother’s Handbook, based on the bestselling book by Kate Long, is a basic story about a teen pregnancy, how it brings out old bitterness among family members, and could eventually tear a family apart. While learning secrets of her own past as well as trying to keep her daughter from making the same mistakes she did, Karen (Catherine Tate) manages to keep her mother alive, almost disown her daughter, Charlotte (Holly Grainger), and realize the patterns in her own life being reflected in her daughters.

Blu-ray Review: Stargate Universe Season 1.5

Stargate Universe
returns with a huge, energetic comeback. After having a large amount of setup and character development in the first half of the season, fans immediately get the payoff that we have been waiting for. Stargate Universe Season 1.5 is now on Blu-ray and DVD…and is it quite impressive.

Episode Highlights:

CC2010: Interview with Fringe Star Jasika Nicole (Astrid Farnsworth)

Fringe’s Jasika Nicole, who plays Astrid Farnsworth, was the first of our roundtable guest. This lovely young lady answered all our questions, except the ones that would have given spoilers. She was also surprised that we were fans and knew so much about the show.

ComicsOnline: Is there anything exciting for your character next season?

Comic Con 2010 Interview: Fringe Producers Jeff Pinkner And J. H. Wyman

Fringe Executive Producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman are interviewed in a round table session. They would not divulge spoilers, but are very excited about the new season, and that we are knowledgeable fans ourselves.

Question: What can you tell us about the next season?

Both: Absolutely nothing.

Question: [Laughs; incoherent] Nothing?

Jeff Pinkner: Well, we don’t want to ruin it for you! It’s like Christmas. One opens the presents on Christmas day.

J.H. Wyman: There’s lots of love and a reason they’re all wrapped nice in colored paper and bows. Hopefully there are twenty-two of them

CC2010: Marvel Anime: Iron Man

After the Marvel Animation panel at Comic-Con 2009, I was overwhelmed with excitement about the Marvel Anime series. Iron Man, Wolverine, X-Men and Blade all done up with stunning art and stories by my all-time favorite writer, Warren Ellis. Eff yeah! After seeing the first episode of the Iron Man anime this year, my excitement largely trickled away.

CC2010 Futurama Signing

For the third day of Con, Futurama was the main attraction for us.  The cast showed up and signed pictures for some of their biggest fans. Billy West, John Di Maggio, Maurice LaMarche, Phil LaMarr and Lauren Tom were the actors to appear, and they are probably the most recognized and loved out of the whole cast. They were all so very nice and really great to talk to. They loved the fact that so many people have watched the show since they were younger and look up to the actors.

Comic Review: Blood Factory

The Blood Factory

While cruising the dealers’ floor at Comic Con, I came across several exhibits of interest. I want to review what was probably the most unusual booth I saw at the convention – The Blood Factory. The first thing you notice is the prop where a person gets in this table with their upper bodies visible, their lower bodies hidden behind a fleshless, dismembered lower body. This was a popular stop and always had a line of patrons waiting to imitate a victim. But there is more to The Blood Factory then a fun effect and pretty lab assistants.
