Karl Urban (Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy from 2009's Star Trek) confirmed he has been offered and accepted the role of Judge Dredd in the new film.          
 

Karl’s summation of the project is that it will be a “Gritty, uncompromising, hard-core adaptation of the character John Wagner created. He (Wagner) is on-board as a creative consultant.  The film is in no way, shape, or form related to any other movie by the same title.  Bottom line is that this is going to be the Judge Dredd movie that fans of Dredd have so richly deserved.”
