CC2010: Jason Palmer a Must-See Artist!
Today at the San Diego Comic-Con I had the opportunity to interview extremely-talented artist Jason Palmer at the Jason Palmer Studios booth (booth 4407). My full interview will be posted later this week, but I had to get the highlights out there to all you Con attendees while you still have a chance to go by and meet Jason at his booth, and see some of his amazing work!
Jason seems to have art in his blood. To quote him exactly “I was drawing before I could talk.” The evidence of that is apparent in his ability to capture the essence of the characters in his pictures, rendering not actors in their costumes but actually capturing the characters in the moments his pictures portray. Fans of Firefly & Serenity, Star Wars, Battlestar Gallactica, Superman and many more will find it impossible not see their most beloved characters as though the are alive on his canvases. His ability to capture that tiny quirk, a tilt of head or other movement, the exact stance at a precise moment, or the emotion so real that you know exactly what the character is feeling as though you were seeing the actor portray it right before your eyes is amazing!
Also featured this year is Jason’s line of SERENI-Tees, a line of his Firefly/Serenity artwork specially designed for t-shirts. These are a 2010 Con must-have for all the Browncoats out there! I personally will be picking mine up today, along with at least two prints (I’ve narrowed it down to four must-haves so we will see if I can restrain myself to choosing only two!)
With the chaos that is the San Diego Comic-Con, I don’t have nearly enough time to do justice to the interview and the scope of Jason’s work, but I urge you to visit Jason Palmer Studios booth 4407 before all the best pieces are gone, and check back later this week for more pictures and the full interview with Jason.
