DVD Review: Pokemon Elements Volume 7: Psychic

There are some things in this world that can’t be explained, but some of these phenomenon are nothing more than Physic Pokemon. These mysterious Pokemon have the ability to distort the world, and the properties that govern it. If you think Pokemon are the only beings with these physic powers, you are wrong. A few people also have these psychic powers, or ESP,  and Ash is foolish enough to challenge one of them to a battle. Sabrina of Saffron City Gym is one of the most powerful ESP users in the word, and due to these powers, her ability to control physic Pokemon is incredible. When Ash challenges Sabrina to a battle, he quickly finds out that he is no match for her.

Another strange event occurs while Ash, Misty, and Brock are taking a young Larvitar back to its home; they stumble upon an Unown. Yes,  that is right, it is an “Unown”. The Unown had been separated from its friends, and fell from its dimension into ours. Because Unowns live in a different dimension, very little is known about them, hence their name. When Team Rocket learns about the appearance of this rare Pokemon, they  attempt to steal it, naturally. When Team Rocket attempts to take the Unown, it becomes startled  – and then something happens! Following a large explosion, Ash and his friends find that they are in a strange world. Is it the world of the Unown or somewhere else?

Overall

Psychic pokemon are some of the coolest Pokemon, and they are also some of the strongest. This volume, Elements captures the essence of Psychic Pokemon. Psychic Pokemon are mysterious and frightening, but they are also funny and mischievous. So I think that it was no easy task picking three episodes that truly capture these qualities of a physic pokemon, but I love the ones that were chosen.

One of my problems with this volume is that some of these episodes are only parts of a greater story, so when it’s over it feels like the story was chopped off. Especially the episode with Sabrina, which was only the beginning of Ash’s whole struggle against her. At the least the last episode where Ash beats her could have been included, completing that story.  So instead of it just being a general view of Psychic Pokemon it could have been more of the best of the best, and covered more episodes than  just  the three that were chosen.

I love that this is about celebrating Psychic Pokemon in all their glory, and any fan of Psychic Pokemon will love it too!
