“…Five will be left standing”
Once the Straw Hat crew finds out that the island with the gold, which Nolan the Lier had spoken of, didn’t sink into the sea, but was shot into the sky, their treasure hunt begins. God’s Land is really part of Jaya and when you put together a map of Jaya and an old map of God’s Land, it forms a skull. This explains what Nolan meant when he said “The gold is in the right eye.” Now the Straw Hat crew has split into groups, one headed to the “right eye” and another to get their ship out of God’s Land. Of course that won’t be easy, because in the midst of the disturbance of the blue sea people (A.K.A. the Straw Hat crew) the Shandians launch an attack on Kami Eneru. Now a fullblown war is unfolding, all because of the Straw hat crew.
Instead of calling it a war, Kami Eneru calls it a “survival game”. Competing in this survival game are: the Shandians, with their force of 20 people, and the Blue Sea people with 7. Then there is the Kami's army with 50 heavenly warriors, 3 vessels and then Kami Eneru himself. So in total there are 81 people (82 if you count the Sky Knight) in the game of survival. One of the Kami’s advisors predicts that in the first three hours 30 people will fall, but Kami believes that many more will fall, so many more that there will only be 5 left standing.
Overall
This is a very action-filled volume of One Piece, with lots of blood and death. Now there is nothing wrong with that because One Piece is an action story, but it is almost too much and loses some of it’s power. Of course this story would be much more boring if it would have just stayed the same, so I am thankful for the action. This is also the part of the story when the magic of this arc starts to fade because thing are getting explained and mysteries are being solved. Yet even though things aren’t as magical, some of them are even cooler now you know how they work. This is another great chapter of One Piece saga and I wouldn’t miss it.
