The Superhero genre parody Super Capers is now available on DVD.
After wannabe superhero Ed Gruberman (Lois and Clark's Justin Whalin) attempts to save a damsel in distress, he is sued by the mugger (played by Clint Howard). The judge decides to side with Gruberman but insists that he be trained by the Super Capers program for lacking superheroes.
He is driven to the Super Capers program by the infamous "Man-Bat" (played by Batman's Adam West) who now runs a taxi service using the Man-Batmobile. Once at the compound, Gruberman meets the rest of the team which includes: Sarge (Tommy Listner), Will Powers (Chuck's Ryan McPartlin), Felicia Freeze (Danielle Harris), and Puffer Boy (Ray Griggs). Can these struggling superheroes get it together in time to save the world?
For what could have been a great superhero parody, the film falls incredibly short. I was really hoping that this movie would succeed but it was extremely disappointing. This film has an amazing cast and really didnt utilize the mass amounts of talents available. It could have been a parody along the lines of Scary Movie but just isn't laugh out loud funny. It's one thing to try to make the movie feel campy, but it doesn't quite work when the dialogue is aweful and you try to cover up the writing by using tons cheesey sound effects. Even Adam West's blink and you'll miss it cameos feel very forced. Yes it was a funny idea to have him drive the Batmobile, but it wasn't anything memorable.

Overall
When reviewing a film I always try to find something redeeming or to look at the film from another point of view. Unfortunately there is nothing really redeeming about this film. The writing was childish, the sound effects were distracting and annoying, and the acting just feels forced. I really don't think any of the actors were really into this film…which is really unforunate because it had great potential.
ComicsOnline gives Super Capers 2 out of 5 missed chances for a great genre parody.
